If you have a shareholding remaining, valued at £10k £100k or £1m - AFTER you have extracted / recouped and withdrawn the equivalent of 100% of your cash subscriptions is that not great position to be in?

Final points

I work towards a goal of a sub zero average cost and then below zero.

This means I have a shareholding which I have alread recouped my initial cash outlay in full.

Once below zero average cost, then when a share price corrects then the cash is there to buy more shares with little concern as you can add to a holding nad still remain sub zero.

Fabulous when it also pays a dividend.

Target is a multi million stock ISA portfolio which has cash investments fully recouped and earning dividends. Every add and trim moves in that direction.

A C = T C Q .

Average cost is an important factor in determining how Mary monitors her cash outlay in shares. Her total cost is net of sales.

Alessandro - just ranges and yes with sub 80p average cost atm trims and adds are working for me.

Trimmed at 134.5p yesterday and rebought sub 117p - the rally can start now please, I don't think 105 is on my radar. More likely 125p
