Problem with that return was it couldn't be reinvested on the DRIP, you had to take it in cash and declare as income or capital gains. Don't want that again!!!
That is correct. Buy before Ex-Dividend Date & be on the register on Record Date and you collect the dividend.
Share price will fall, generally by the amount of the dividend, to reflect the drop in Market Cap of the company.
