RE: Harland & Wolff is Extremely undervalued, even at 30p.13 Jun 2023 20:17
Xenor: Your strategy is your strategy and that is absolutely fine. You do not need to disclose your opinion, but if you have not already considered this in your own mind...ask yourself: if this goes to 48p and then retraces to 35p, how are you going to feel if you ride this up and then back down without selling any?
What if it goes back to 30p? Or even 27p or below? Global macro problems and this scenario cannot be ruled out, regardless of what HARL does. Heck, this is AIM! It could happen anyway. Have experienced it myself several times, pre-covid.
I say this not to influence you in either direction.
I wish someone had presented this picture to me a few years ago when I too set rigid targets on X stocks. Targets that were not necessarily based on strong fundamentals, or any fundamentals at all for that matter, in some cases, in truth.
Often based on what the paper profit would have been for the sum of shares and average price I held at that time. The price of another flat. The price of another house. Or even maybe simply enough to pay off a mortgage, if you have one.
Now, I too currently think that the LTIP will be met. Not sure about 60p, but if we see a good finance deal, positive IM result and a few more deals like today, then absolutely viable IMO.
All I am trying to say is challenge your own thesis, especially when it comes to a small cap stock, and be careful.
And I will not mention it again, as I appreciate this post might come across as a lecture, which is not the intention.
Anyway, good day today. I have a really nice bottle put aside for when John serves up the finance deal (fingers, toes and everything else crossed!) GLA.
