Apollo Scores FEED Study Contract for GBA from NEO

Aberdeen-based engineering firm Apollo said it has been awarded a “significant contract” by NEO Energy Group Ltd for the front-end engineering design (FEED) study of the planned redevelopment of the Greater Buchan Area (GBA) in the North Sea.

The FEED study for NEO Energy will cover asset repairs and modifications for the Western Isles floating, production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel, as well as late-life extension procedures, from a process and marine perspective, Apollo said in a recent news release. The FPSO also needs to be prepared for future electrification and have the capability to accept power from renewable sources, supporting the asset’s long-term sustainable performance and aligning with emission reduction targets set out in the North Sea Transition Deal and the UK Government’s Net Zero Strategy. "

"Cenovus announced last fall that it plans to spend nearly $1 billion this year on the SeaRose refit, and ongoing construction of the West White Rose project, which will support future production in the field until at least 2038. This does not include the share of expenditures by Suncor, which has a roughly 40 per cent ownership stake, and OilCo, which has a five per cent stake in the White Rose satellite fields."

Thanks, hadn't appreciated that the vessels were part of the UK 30 year shipbuilding pipeline. Interesting also that the letter highlights UK govt support to Isles of Scilly Steamship Group over the years including through the pandemic.

The Royal Navy has so few sailors that it has to decommission two warships to staff its new class of frigates, The Telegraph can reveal.

HMS Westminster, which was recently refurbished at huge expense to the taxpayer, and HMS Argyll will be decommissioned this year.

The crews will be sent to work across the new fleet of Type 26 frigates as they come into service.
