What percentage of the business is owned by employees?
Does anyone have any insight as to what the dividend may look like next year ?
200iQ - many of our customers buy their stock from China , less stock to sell could mean less parcel volume .
@Derek re your question Orkney v’s Shetland , sad to say I’ve been to neither of them !
Hi Derek, I was meaning we’re all the same boat , if our volumes decline due to supply chain issues for our customers , whatever carrier they use will experience similar decline .
I’ve been to see 5 RM clients this week , 3 mentioned worries about stock coming in from China , there’s still supply chain issues. Definitely think this will have an effect on parcel volumes for RMG however our competitors will have similar challenges .

Worth a try to get rid of the trolls .
I think the current Employee Share offer is great value at these ridiculously low prices anyone taking part will acquire almost as many shares in the last year than we got for the previous SIP offer which was over 3 years . I can’t see them offering any further free shares but every employee should get behind the current scheme while it’s circa £2 per share .
I read the comments on this page every day without fail as it does give some useful insight .
I’ve seen the capital markets presentation and the 5 year plan and have confidence in RMG not only as a shareholder but as an employee . If the unions support the plan it will be a win for all of us . Im holding my shares and taking the dividends with confidence they will return to
£4+ .
Most of the posts on here seem to be positive , I’m seriously hoping that no one reads some of the fake propaganda and sells at the current low rates .
I’m buying more every month through the employee share scheme .
Does anyone know what percentage of the company is owned by employees ( including directors ) ?
The only good thing I can see about the low share price is we are currently getting around 45 shares per month for those paying the max amount . Less higher rate tax is around £1.20 a share .
I’ve kept all my free ones and the ones I bought at the flotation , in it for the long term , despite the scaremongering on this forum !
I think we need to diversify as a company . I get newspaper , food boxes , fresh milk , pizza etc all delivered to my door , none of which from Royal Mail, yet our delivery offices have vehicles sitting there doing nothing after 5pm .
Why not let our postman ( many of whom are part time ) have use of the vehicles and deliver for a partner on an owner driver basis . A bad example , but imagine a partnership with Dominos Pizza , mostly ordered at weekends and evenings when our fleet is not being used .We also have the Royal Mail app , since we deliver to every address in the Uk , if we could get every address to sign up for this we could manage everything that needs a doorstep experience . Pay your window cleaner from the App , stop your milkman for the holidays , book a return parcel , order your foreign currency for delivery , repeat prescriptions, send a birthday card or gift , renew your passport , just a few ideas that go around in my head when I look at the dismal share price .
Derek , do you work in solutions team ?
We need to get away from Brussels. I have a small property in Mallorca , Every village has swimming pools, flood lit football pitches, gyms tennis courts etc all paid for by US the British tax payer. The locals hardly pay anything to use these facilities eg. a family membership €100 per year. The hospitals, airport, all paid by our contributions to the EU.
Mallorca is a wealthy island but they were clever and claimed grants from the EU with their agricultural figures. Why should we have paid for this? We all work so hard, whilst many in Spain are now on 6 months holiday enjoying their coffees in the winter sunshine whilst they receive their "dole money". In scotland I see how much we need these kind of facilities, but sadly we have no money left to use as we are subsiding Brussels and the rest of Europe. I watch the tired commuters arriving in packed trains in the dark cold mornings and then I see them leave again in the dark - looking exhausted.
Do not believe the media - it is all "scare mongering" as no one wishes the "UK Cash Cow" of the EU to leave . I wish we had more faith in ourselves .
As for RM , it’s a great British Company, that I’m proud to work for , lots of changes going on at the moment , and developments coming in the parcels area , this will bounce back .
I still have faith in this . I’m sure this is about Rico getting all the bad news out of the way in his first year and dare I say it , maybe the numbers have been made to look worse than they actually are . A lot of director roles have been axed recently , the cost cutting will kick in next year . I’m playing the long game . Rico bought a large amount of shares pre Christmas he must know this can turn round .
Good analogy with the bread , I think I get it now . No intention of actually trying anything like that. Just wishing I had sold some of these damn shares when they went to £6 . Not to worry chaps that’s the stock market for ya .
Can someone explain to me what ‘shorting ‘ means in laymen’s terms please . I’ve googled this but don’t get it , and how it impacts the SP . Thanks in advance ( as previously mentioned I’m a novice but with plenty of shares in RMG)
If it’s sent by RM Tracked, and the customer has given a mobile number or emailed them they will receive delivery notifications letting them know the parcel is on its way / out for delivery . If it’s the standard service they won’t . Most retailers use tracked as it offers more visibility in the network plus compensation . Beetroot juice is correct , most customers want to come home from work and collect parcel next door rather than go to delivery office . You can opt out of this if you have issues with a neighbour. The consumer is in control as they can save ‘leave at number 6 ‘ or leave in shed . But the postman will never leave an item outside at their own discretion but they will always attempt a neighbour .
@worldgoround . Royal Mail will leave a parcel with a neighbour ( exception Special Delivery items). On the Tracked service consumers can sign up to Safeplace , where they nominate a safe location for delivery this could be a neighbour or a secure outbuilding . This instruction is on the label . The postman will never leave an item at his own discretion but will try a neighbour .
Re the ‘adult ‘ items you mentioned , if you order from Ann Summers or Love Honey the packaging is discrete so assuming it doesn’t start vibrating your neighbour would never know .
As I mentioned in my first post I know nothing about shares . Looking for some thoughts on the monthly share scheme for employees. At the moment I pay £100 per month for shares , which costs me £59 because of tax relief , good value at the moment given SP is so low ? Not sure the uptake around the business but there must be a significant number of employees signed up , this substantial purchase by RM ( on behalf of staff ) surely would this not eventually reduce the volume of shares available in the market as we are locked in for 5 years before we can sell them ? Just a question , as I say this is all new to me but I’m taking more of an interest now . This is a good page for insight .
Hoping for some good news from Rico , parcel volumes are up, particularly import from China .
