Even after having bought some at under £2 on 27th Oct 2020, I have no thoughts of selling any at the current price.

The market decides on the value of BP on a continuous basis during a trading day,
irrespective of buyback amounts, but obviously with less shares and a constant market cap valuation , the share price would go up.

People in the UK will have to decide for themselves what precautions they make when all restrictions have gone.
Obviously the best precaution is to have vaccinations as soon as they are eligible. It's a shame that millions didn't take the opportunity to be vaccinated,- I will have no sympathy for those people if they get seriously ill.

This years interim dividend was 0.67p.

I made a contrarian purchase today ( xd day) - limit order got executed at 134p.
I would certainly consider further purchases on any further significant declines in price. A stock I can sit back and relax with, having the underlying investment decisions made on my behalf.

You cannot make a sweeping statement like that - Anti Tories would not have confidence in any Conservative leader.
It is votes that count, and any Conservative voter that I know have not changed their support for Boris, and regard the shenanigans of political opposition and the media as a witch hunt with far more important things to deal with than partygate. I would hate to think the cost to the taxpayer of the investigations.

As far as I know, the contract of Dick was due to end in April anyway (I may have missed news of a new contract - cannot be bothered to check)

A doubling in rates cannot be ruled out, although a 0.25% at this moment is more likely.
I would be surprised if rates were unchanged.
The FED decides on rates the day before - the level of change in the US may influence the decision of some MPC members.

Boris helped to get the Conservatives a landslide victory . They would do well to remember that.
Popularity of Boris shouldn't be underestimated. He won 2 terms as Mayor in 'Labour' London with white British a minority population.
Who would be a better candidate as leader at the next election to pull in the voters.
