Movement of goods within the UK for the UK should not need checks.
If the EU want checks for goods being sold to Eire, then they can be checked at a place of their choosing. The existing arrangements when put into practise from the theory is not good . That is why we signed the protocol with 'articles' within it that can be triggered if it was found it was causing movement of goods problems.

I would be very happy with the current share price for the next 10 years whilst the dividend is progressed and 6% and increasing shares taken out of issue each year - unfortunately I will not see that happen.

Those who have access to the SETS order book and have shares for sale will enter a sell order on to the book. Those who wish to buy will enter a buy order into the order book. The system will automatically match up buyers and sellers who match on price - often one large order will be matched up with several smaller orders on the "other side". The matched orders are removed from the book, and a transaction is executed between buyer and seller. Each transaction is both buy and sell, and only one transaction report is required. These automated trades have a trade type of AT.

ffs that is the problem - disruption to movement of goods within the UK - it is NOT trade with a foreign country/entity.
Only goods that need checking are those destined to eire (EU), which could be made a mile or two from the border

if any investor did not know that companies have share schemes for employees before they invest then thy are complete idiots. Obviously people who complain about them like ST must fall into that category.
ST you should start looking for an alternative investment when you have sold the stock that you do not want (Lloyds) where it doesn't involve employee benefits/remuneration involving shares.

NO that would be 4 Billion, but hopefully nearer 4.5 Billion will be bought

the investment plan may end up purchasing half a billion more shares than many would have expected from the outset.

Stop the ball ox.

It looked at one time that it would finish very early. No rush for it to complete - average price paid is more important - hopefully MS are controlling things as best they can within limits when it comes to purchase prices.

No they haven't, it was a return of capital and consolidation.
Just over a £1 per share (old) has been removed from the Aviva balance sheet and thus reducing the market cap.
With a share buyback to remove shares, the value of the invested money gets transferred onto the remaining shares.

Got return money today but didn't need it to make a further investment, but unfortunately it is only today that purchases in the consolidated shares has become available to me, when I wanted to purchase at 390p on Monday. I will now wait to see if I can top up at a lower level, but won't be disappointed for it continue rising as I hold a good amount.
Small consolation is that I opened a buy spread bet on Monday at just under 390, but only the equivalent of about 20% of the shares that I wanted to purchase.

No different result is expected. Every time IS the same result - buybacks do what they are meant to do, reduce the number of shares on the market.
