something else to take into account - reducing a percentage of shares in issue, with a retained market cap will increase the price per share. So if anyone wants to make a comparison to oil price moves then I would have thought against the market cap would be better.
Then of course cable rate and what the GBP market cap translates to in USD. After all oil is priced in dollars. Easy to look at the market cap on the ADS/R price. Current market cap is a little under 175 Billion dollars

I think its a bit premature for commentators to predict the effects that todays announcements will be making, as they cannot predict the future.
The markets of course can take a view of what might be the case and react accordingly as we have seen today with cable, currently at 1.086.
Less than 5 weeks until what should be another sizeable UK base rate increase.

stating the obvious - higher earners pay more tax than lower earners, so i am not sure why lower earners would complain when that is the case.
Maybe an across the board single income tax rate is the answer - then there couldn't be complaints about higher rate tax payers.

Lloyds is currently able to return 10% + to shareholders - I would not have thought that those kind of returns are from a struggling bank still in the grips of the GFC, and PPI,Covid 19 etc - each shareholder will need to decide for themselves whether that is likely to continue or not.

You would have thought that with the endless statements that we have had from ST this year that he would have found a new home to take the place of a Lloyds investment by now - very strange.

UK base rate rise was not enough to support sterling enough against the USD after the FED raising rates by 0.75 and likely to do the same next time.

Tomorrows government announcement will also have an effect on where the market sees rates needing to be and how quickly, as the measures will be going against the effect of the current base rate level.
