Personally I prefer for example the about 6.5% income that i will receive in the next year from my last recent purchase of Lloyds at about 42p tax free in an ISA. Also already showing 7% capital growth on top.

I get sick and tired of certain sectors of the population thinking that profits is a dirty word ,and that such profits should be taken from shareholders who have risked an investment and given away as if the company is a charity. We are supposed to be a free market economy. I hate to think what Labour would do with extracting profits from business if the population were stupid enough to vote them in.

Long term investors I am sure have found it unpalatable to see Centrica shares plummet from near £4 in 2013 to the lows of a few years ago. I didn't hear calls for the public to pay shareholders money to compensate.

Dividend yield of APPLE is about 0.5%.

Maybe EaglePI you think it common sense that investors should be selling the stock to a tenth of it's current value

Lloyds are currently on a 2023 dividend yield of about 6% and a prospective 2024 yield of about 7% ?.

In addition returns are being made by way of buybacks for cancellation.

I will continue with investments such as Lloyds giving double digit returns with with the added risk that the capital value will not go up by a double digit amount in addition in the next 12 months.

I would have thought that BT will be in better shape than then, after the major CAPEX is out of the way and staff levels are down to what will be needed in the future

Lloyds has a progressive dividend policy meaning that the aim will be to increase dividend levels in the coming years. Investors will decide at what price per share that they are willing to pay for returns on offer to shareholders at any given time.

Currently investors are only willing to pay about 45p per share for double digit returns.

NO -The amount of money that Lloyds decides to distribute by way of dividends has nothing to do with the share price - it is what is affordable and within a distribution/returns to shareholder policy

They won't be because Lloyds will not be at 80p this year.

Billions of shares were bought in the upper 70's and 80's during 2013-15 at 0% yield to very little yield.

Possibility in the next few years for purchases taking place at 80p with a 5% + yield
