Over 11.5 Billion shares have been removed from the market.

Without their removal based on the current value that the market is placing on lloyds, the price per share would be about 7p per share less.

The removal of shares helps with the progressive dividend policy as well

The market decides on the market cap of Lloyds.

The sole purpose of the buybacks is to reduce share capital.

there is no such thing as 'pricing in'. The market says that Lloyds is worth about £28.5 Billion currently. That would be the market valuation whether there were 10 Billion or a 100 Billion shares in issue.

There are no buts. A share price of any company doing a share split would alter in price to reflect the ratio of new shares.

The market valued Lloyds at over £60 Billion in 2015

If the market does not put lower values on the Lloyds business year after year then removing 5% of shares from the market each year would increase the price per share rather than just prop it up.

Correct the market decides on valuation, but based on the current market cap, without the buybacks the price per share would currently be 7p less.

yes - good news all round - good dividends back to being paid quarterly and a good return should be made to shareholders from sale proceeds in Canadian and French operations in first part of next year.

I sold a few today, but it still remains my largest shareholding.
