I bought both BDEV and BKG in October 2016, and sold out of BDEV completely less than a year later for a 40% capital gain.

I have kept a holding in BKG but have sold enough over the years to have the remaining shares owing me only about £12 a share.

I have bought back into BDEV at 35p less than I purchased at 7 years ago.

I had no particular preference for BDEV, but the current pricing level along with previous profit to offset the new purchase amount and the fact that BDEV have had a partnership with CITRA owned by Lloyds bank where I am heavily invested made it the easiest choice.

To put in simply - BP and SHELL are not in need of a merger .

I prefer to have a holding in two separate businesses , which may have differing future investor returns depending on policies/ investment decisions of their respective BOD's.

High rates of returns on cash/bonds will obviously have some suppressing effects on income stocks.

This could be a good benefit for long term shareholders if Lloyds continue to purchase and cancel Billions of shares each year at suppressed pricing levels.

A week is a long time in politics - we have about another year to go for a General election.

Do not read too much into by-elections, especially when a lot of voters didn't want to leave home for it.

Also we had in the past , UKIP and BREXIT party votes making an impact on seat outcomes.

We now have the REFORM party, where the vast majority of votes would have come from previous Conservative voters.

The 'reform' votes were more than the differentials in the CON/LAB votes.

Where 'reform' run in the General election will be taking away votes mainly from the Conservatives. They need to have that in mind if they do not want Labour in power.

I would put the Conservatives as favourites to regain the seats lost yesterday in the GE.
