Nick Candy is eyeing a £50million payday as Amazon and Spotify consider takeover offers for Audioboom.
The property tycoon, who is married to Australian singer and actress Holly Valance, has a 14.8 per cent stake in the podcast maker.
His holding was valued at £45million last night after shares rose 10.8 per cent, or 190p, to 1950p. The shares are up tenfold since the start of 2020 when they were trading at 195p.
Amazon is said to be working with bankers at JP Morgan on an offer. City sources said a bid would have to top 2250p a share, or £355million. That would value Candy’s stake at £52million.
It is one of the world’s biggest podcasters and its shows are downloaded 116m times every month by 32m people. A boom in listeners in the pandemic helped it to its first annual profit, earning £1million in 2021.

Audioboom put itself up for sale in 2020 but failed to find a buyer, and rejected an approach last year that would have valued it at £188million.

Spotify and Amazon add to a host of companies thought to have been circling, including Swedish podcast host Acast, believed to be the front-runner.

Others said to be interested include Sony Music, Google and US media company Liberty.

How do the shares of AAQUA & Candy stack up against the smaller PI's? AAA are able to make an offer from 13th March i believe ? I realise a 2nd attempt seems unlikely given the re rate. I do wonder if the recent early trade update & now this 'leak' concerning Amazon is nought but a cunning ploy to throw AAA off the scent.

I noted earlier the Zak Mir reference to BOOM said by some to be worth £80 a share. I don't know where old Zak found that valuation but, with only 16M shares available, just how much could this be worth?

Russia is one of the only governments in the world that does not need to borrow. It's running on a surplus. Unlike the UK/USA etc etc etc

ASLR through it's interest in AAA will benefit from the predicted battle between Spotify & Amazon for AudioBoom as AAA have a large interest in AAQUA & AAQUA have a VERY large chunk of AudioBoom.

Apparently Ukraine are indeed now considering not joining NATO in a bid to stop Russia invading, according to reports in the media this morning.

Candy & AAA will be laughing all the way to the bank either way.

Ukraine has good resources of Paladium & Rhodium & the US needs these for its production of microchips etc Also if it were to become a member of Nato the US would use it to base nukes close to Russia. This particularly grates with Russia, not only for the obvious reason that they don't want Nukes on their doorstep but also because when the USSR placed nukes in Cuba aimed at the US, the USSR eventually agreed to remove them.

If only that were the case. Russia have been building reserves of gold for over a decade unlike the West who have economies based on debt, hot air. I remember hearing a former UN general speak about 3 years ago on how Putin was not afraid of war, nuclear war. That he expected war & that the threat was ever growing. With Putin forming closer ties with China & sitting on huge reserves of oil/gas/gold unfortunately they are in arguably their best position since the fall of the wall.
There is a belief that is the perfect time for Russia & China to make their move.
