British Airways flights are delayed at Heathrow as luggage piles up and passengers are left stuck on planes after airline suffers 'significant technical issue' - but denies it was hit by Russian cyber attack

British Airways has cancelled all short-haul flights from Heathrow Airport until midday on Saturday.

BA apologised for the cancellations, caused by ongoing technical issues.

All long-haul services at Heathrow and all flights at Gatwick and London City Airport are due to operate as planned, but customers may experience some delays, the company warned.

Anyone due to travel later was advised to check their flight status before travelling to the airport.

BA said it "anticipated further disruption during the day".

said it expected passenger capacity to grow to 85% of
pre-pandemic levels and a return to profitability in 2022 after
a collapse in 2021 capacity to just 36% of the 2019 level led to
a 2.97 billion euro net loss.

It had warned in November that it was heading for a 2021
loss of about 3 billion euro, hurt by pandemic restrictions for
most of the year, an improvement on 2020's 4.39 billion euro
