The number of UK workers on payrolls rose by 121,000 between March and April to 29.5m, the Office for National Statistics said this morning.

Darren Morgan, director of economic statistics at the Office for National Statistics (ONS), said: “While the economy was still growing in the first three months of 2022, there continued to be a mixed picture for the labour market.

“Total employment, while up on the quarter, remains below its pre-pandemic level,” he added. “Since the start of the pandemic, around half a million more people have completely disengaged from the labour market.”

Dubai's Emirates Airline posted a loss of $1.1 billion in the year through March, up from a $5.5 billion loss the previous year.

The airline has resumed flights to 140 destinations, but the surge in fuel prices continues to challenge the pandemic-battered aviation sector.

Emirates said fuel accounted for 23% of operating costs over the year, compared to just 14% in 2020-21.

Talk that Bosch wants bigger chunk of Ceres Power
There is talk in the market that engineering giant Bosch wants a bigger chunk of the London-listed fuel cell technology developer Ceres Power Holdings.

Bosch owns 18 per cent of Ceres Power, but there is speculation that the German firm has been weighing a bid for the whole business, possibly with a partner.

Ceres Power originally spun out of Imperial College London and floated on the AIM market in 2004.

It has been refining its fuel cell technology and now its core product is a 'steel cell'.

Earlier this year, the company signed a collaboration deal with Bosch and the Chinese firm Weichai Power, which owns about 20 per cent of Ceres.

Market's are forward looking and lloyds still in the 40p price range they definitely not looking at the higher rates and extra earnings for lloyds, everyone knows lloyds is a bellwether for the UK economy, I won't be reinvesting my divi back in lloyds this year
