Travelex Says Sales Process Aborted As Offers Unacceptable To Lenders

(Alliance News) - Finablr PLC's foreign currency unit Travelex Financing PLC on Monday said its sales process has been terminated as the offers received have been deemed unacceptable by its lenders.

The company said that while it received a number of non-binding offers, they were rejected by the revolving credit facility lenders and holders of senior secured notes.

Travelex said discussions have continued between lenders and a group representing over two thirds of senior secured noteholders in relation to a long-term new money financial restructuring of the Travelex Group.

It added that while the terms of the restructuring are being negotiated, it has been granted a temporary waiver from more than 70% of noteholders which ensures that no enforcement action can be taken until July 2 in relation to the non-payment of EUR14.4 million interest coupon which was due on May 25.

"This forbearance agreement provides the stability required in order for lenders to finalise their discussions on a debt restructuring which we expect will recapitalise the group's balance sheet and inject new capital into the business. Travelex remains extremely grateful to our customers and suppliers, and broader stakeholder base, for their continued support during this unprecedented and challenging period," said Travelex Chief Executive Tony D'Souza.

Finablr's shares were suspended from trading in March.

SSE Renewables has taken a final investment decision to proceed with the Seagreen 1 offshore wind project which will now be taken forward together with the French energy major Total.

Total and SSE Renewables have now entered into an agreement through which Total will take a 51 per cent stake in the GBP 3 billion project. The transaction remains subject to conditions precedent, including public authorities approval, and should be finalized by July 2020, Total said. Under the contract, yet to be finalised and to be executed on a lump-sum basis, the UAE-based company will manufacture jackets, transition pieces and suction caissons.

Lamprell will deliver the jackets to Seaway 7 at its deep-water quayside in Hamriyah port, from where Seaway 7 will transport them to Scotland.

The contract value has not been revealed, however, Lamprell has been described the contract as “very large”, which is more than USD 150 million (around EUR 133 million) according to the company’s internal definition.

The fabrication work is set to be completed in the first half of 2021.

Tech firm IQE expects to return to profit in first half, shares jump

British technology firm IQE on Friday forecast an at least 27% jump in revenue for the first half and said it expects to return to profitability, thanks to strong performance of its wireless equipment and light sensors businesses.

Shares of the company, which makes semiconductor wafers for chips used in Apple products, rose 8.6% to 42.88 pence in early trading.

The revenue growth, IQE's fastest in seven years according to Peel Hunt analysts, comes as demand for computer products jumps due to the global shift to working from home because of the coronavirus crisis.

IQE said it expects first-half revenue of at least 85 million pounds and a low single digit adjusted operating profit. Its performance last year was impacted by Sino-U.S. trade tensions, which roiled the chipmaking industry.

The company did not give a forecast for the full year and said there was there was "considerable risk" for the second half due to uncertainties around the pandemic.

IQE, however, said its production sites did not face any disruption from the pandemic and the roll out of next-generation 5G technology for phones along with demand for products it supplies to the U.S. military were likely to cushion any hit from the crisis.

Hammerson has announced its flagship destinations in England will reopen from June 15, in line with the latest guidance from the UK government.

This follows the reopening of four destinations in France last month.

Across the premium outlets portfolio, nine of the 11 VIA Outlets schemes are trading, with the first of those reopening back in April.

A family investment vehicle backed by the world's richest banker is weighing a takeover bid for airport currency giant Travelex.

City sources said an investment firm working for the Safra family is one of the potential bidders to have lodged interest in buying Travelex with advisory group PWC, which has been appointed to find a buyer.

The head of the Safra dynasty is Joseph Safra, who is ranked by Forbes magazine as the world's richest banker with an estimated fortune of $25.2billion.
