RE: Costings23 Mar 2022 16:15
Great post from AB earlier worth another look -
“Basing calcs off the Intel BMZ2 chip based GRIID Miner - 135 TH/s, 3510W (Efficiency 26 W/TH) Cost per machine = $5625
600MW = approx 150,000 of the above spec machines (allowing some margin for cooling), which would give us 20.2 EH. This would cost USD 843 Mil.
Given the number of transformers ordered, I'm expecting 2 more buildings, which would cost about $100mil each.
So just over USD$1bil in total.
Now, we might find that Argo's machines are better than GRIID's and can be immersed/overclocked, so less machines required for the same hash - which could significantly decrease the cost. Also it's possible the machines could be slightly cheaper, as we won't need things like chassis/fans. In fact maybe instead of X machines per tank we have 1 mega machine per tank. This sort of detail we will find out over time.
Regarding funding:
Building: The first 200MW completion is imminent and funded. This building could be mortgaged and the funds used to build out the other two buildings.
Machines: ROI on these spec machines is 8 to 9 months. These could be purchased in a sliding window exponential growth approach and self funded in this manner, or via a loan. There are far more loan options available now than there was a year ago.
In addition to the 5 or so EH that the first building will achieve, we could be at > 25EH mid next year, without dilution.”
