From a couple of days ago, email response to curtailment questions…

“Thanks for the email. Curtailment can take different forms, depending on the circumstances. On Monday of this week, Argo shut down all operations at Helios during the peak demand hours in the afternoon. This was an extreme case that was precipitated by ERCOT's conservation request that went out to all electricity users, not just Bitcoin miners. Once Argo is participating in the demand response programs (i.e. the Controllable Load Resource program "CLR"), we can nominate on a day-ahead basis the amount of power that we are willing to curtail. We anticipate that we'll nominate only a portion of our total energy usage, so those situations wouldn't result in a full shutdown at Helios. Further, we'll be compensated for our participation in the CLR program.

Literally all of what you are saying Hexam could only have been possible if a looking glass had been available or a genie tell them what’s up the road. Numbers are only good today, because anything could change them tomorrow.
So it comes down to whether you are confident in what you invested in or whether you have made an error of judgement.
For me, I’m good with what I see, I’m in no rush here, my average is low and the reward potentially huge in time.
You mentioned you invest, so I’m guessing this forms part of a wider portfolio, can I ask what other spaces you invest in?

Hexam, you are working with assumptions. You are taking a btc figure from a while ago and saying “look where they’d be today if only…..” Any myriad of things could’ve happened along the way to derail that which the Company had no way of being able to see. They did what they felt best given the known conditions.
They are happy with the loan, I don’t know why you sweat so much.

a) ok, without any assumptions, tell me how selling hodl back then, would mean more hodl today.
b) - Well positioned for Bear market conditions, quote “Balance sheet strong enough to withstand lower prices, and potentially take advantage of any increase in market share, and any downturn in the costs of machines”
- quote re upcoming expenditure, “we don’t have a ton of huge costs coming up the vast majority of our Bitmain machines and infrastructure is paid for. Intel costs coming up but flexibility available on that, we can lean in or out depending on market conditions.”

RNS already mentioned discounts to the Bitmain machines.

I’m not sure it would’ve made any difference today though would it? Either a dimished hodl in a time when btc is low, or loans and more hodl with the ability to pay them as required.
