BTB. Premium Mechanical is a contractor mechanic company. So McMahons either can't find the extra personnel they need or don't want to employ extra people so are getting a contractor in to supply the extra personell
Hey Paddy,
Was sposed to fly back to work on 1-1-20. But decided to go back on the 3rd. With the cyclone bearing down on the north west coast I'd say they might not be drilling yet as most exploration sites will evacuate the people out of the area. Few years back one went through and trashed a camp n killed a couple of people on a railway camp I think.
By mid Jan I'd expect it to be back into full swing again
Hey Paddy,
Just a follow up. Asked the Rom loader operators. The trucking company here run pretty much the same truck n trailers as everywhere else. They are carting on average 200t a trip though can handle 240t over the 3 trailers.
Chartbuster. Unless they are going to put a fleet of 793 cat haulpacks in which would burn a vast amount more diesel plus can only travel at less then half the speed of a road train. Then the logical way of transporting ore is by road train.

Pretty sure that's the link for the news today in South Australia. Roads melting at 46C. Was a common occurance in the pilbara on really hot days. Roads seemed to hold up ok tho.
Not 100% on fuel burn. Not much of a fan of highway trucks. Probly looking at 70-80 ton of material per trailer. I'm working tonight so will take a trip over to the Rom pad n ask the loader operators how much per trailer.
Hey Paddy. They can work on both. Just a matter of deciding if the upkeep of a dirt road out ways the initial cost of *****umen.
Tanami have a sealed road as the camp is over by the mill so the workers catch buses n travel same road.
Timid. HAUL trucks that you are referring to like the cat trucks are primarily used for load and haul out of pits. 15yrs as a diesel mechanic in both Australia and in Africa and I havnt come across anywhere that haul long distances. Max 5km run. Plus only the regular people pay the $1.50 per litre of diesel. These mining companies are purchasing millions of litres per year so get quite a hefty price decrease. The site I am on now only has a small fleet of gear and they are using 9000ltrs per 12hr shift for 12 bits of gear.

Watch the video third one down. It's for newmont tanami which will be pretty similar. Both underground mines n both 45odd kms away from the mill.
This method is used all over the state. So not uncommon.
