Hey paddy, long time. I cannot comment on the use of roadheaders as I've never seen one on a mine. By the pictures I looked at I assume they are mostly used in road tunnels. Most mines here just use the jumbos to drill n also use the same rigs to scale the roof and walls of loose rock before drilling the holes into the roof for the cable bolts to be pushed into to hold the mesh up. You would be surprised that most mines use a slightly smaller version of the everyday concrete truck that runs around on the streets in city's n towns. Hence why I say Max average of 8m per day development as there is alot of different things that need to be done step by step before progressing further.
Hydrogen. I've worked at underground mines doing declines. I stand by 8m average per day. Blasted end of each shift and whole area needs to be vacated. Hence why they do it at that time as it's shift handover so everyone is out. There is more to doing a decline than just drilling and digging. Roof needs to be meshed and cable bolted then depending on material Wether it needs shot creteing or not. Also once worked at a place that was at this stage. Setting up the box cut for the portal. That one took 4 or 5 months to complete.
Zoros. Im in western Australia and been around mining past 16 years. I dont need to sit here and watch half the drivel that people post here per day. Im not deramping this share. People just need to be more realistic on time frames. Especially alot of posters on here that have no inkling as to what actually is involved in any part of mining besides what is dug up.
12 months to complete 3km of decline?? Your dreaming. Will average 8m progress per day. As the shaft requires drilling then blasting then clearing. Then after say 8m they will require to cable bolt n secure the roof. Plus also run ventilation tube. Power cables. Don't forget they also require to put in refuge areas. At 8m per day progress purely just on drilling and removal will take 375 days at breakneck pace which a major company like newcrest will not skimp on safety down hole. Too much at risk for the mines department to close the mine down. I'd give it nearly 2yrs before full production takes place
@hydrogen
A conveyor belt set up doesn't run like that.

That is what the company im working for is planning to do as it has a massive pit of gold thats 60kms from there processing plant. So to save transport costs. Will reduce from like 13 road train trips down to like 2
With current stance of China in regards to Australia. I doubt the Australian government will be very approachable to Chinese investment. They are already planning to revisit and inspect all previous Chinese investment.
Hey PaddyGall. The Drilling company out at Tanami for Newmont are DDH1. Possibly demobed back to WA to start Scallywag early for GGP instead of Haverion for NC.
Count down is on until further lock downs start here in WA. Soon won't be able to travel between different regions of the state.
BP55. 65million is minimum spend to reach 70% while also completing certain stages. If newcrest want to spend extra $$$ proving it up they still will only end up with 70%.
Newcrest has the right to acquire up to a 70% interest in 12 blocks within E45/4701 that cover the Havieron target (the "Tenement Blocks") *BY SPENDING UP TO US$65m* (roughly £50m or AUD$90m) and completing a series of exploration and development milestones in a four-stage Farm-in over six years.
