one canot generally short AIM shares. however I understand SPREADEX will allow one to short them but only if you have a long position.
great if caught on a spike for heddging ones position and halting the loss as price retreats.
i use IG for shorting ftse shares, indices, commodities and forex.
yes one carry forward and will earn interest too.
be wary of spreads on aim as holding a long and short position could be expensive.
