Antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) are among the most rapidly rising treatment modalities in oncology, bringing new hope in the fight against cancer. These compounds leverage decades of research in biologics and cytotoxic molecules, blending the specificity and pharmacokinetics of monoclonal antibodies with the anticancer activity of chemotherapy. Multiple recent clinical successes suggest that the field of ADCs will continue expanding in the coming decades; however, there has also been no lack of negative trials, highlighting the need for awareness about their complex mechanism of action.
