Prigozhin agrees to stop movement of Wagner fighters around Russia, says Belarus

Yevgeny Prigozhin has agreed to de-escalate the situation in Russia, the Belarusian president's office has said.

The announcement, carried on the official Telegram channel of the Belarusian presidency, said the head of the mercenary Wagner group had agreed to halt the further movement of his fighters across Russia.

A deal to guarantee the safety of Wagner troops is also on the table.

Alexander Lukashenko is a close ally of Vladimir Putin and spoke to Mr Progozhin in agreement with the Russian president, the statement said.

Zelenskyy 'sure' Putin is no longer in Moscow

As the rapidly-evolving events in Russia continue, Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said he is "sure" Vladimir Putin is no longer in Moscow.

Sharing his nightly address on Telegram, the Ukrainian president said "today is a day when there should definitely be no silence" and "leadership is definitely needed".

"Today the world saw that the masters of Russia do not control anything. Nothing at all. Just complete chaos," he wrote.

He vowed that his troops will "definitely be able to protect Europe from any Russian forces", adding that the security of the eastern flank "depends" on Ukraine's defence.

"The man from the Kremlin is obviously very afraid and probably hiding somewhere, not showing himself. I am sure that he is no longer in Moscow," he continued.

"He knows what he is afraid of, because he himself created this threat. All evil, all losses, all hatred - he spreads it himself."
