Leading audio manufacturers select Frontier’s new Google Cast solution
London, 13th April 2016
Frontier Silicon, the leader in connected solutions for the consumer audio industry, announces that Minuet, its next generation connected audio solution, has been selected by leading consumer audio manufacturers – and is on track for mass production in mid-2016.
Minuet is the company’s latest digital audio turnkey solution – enabling manufacturers to develop connected audio devices incorporating Google Cast in a timely and cost-effective manner.
Google Cast allows users’ speakers to access multiple online music services from the cloud via Wi-Fi. The user’s mobile device acts as a remote control, but in contrast to Bluetooth speakers, there is no need for pairing, so the music is not interrupted by phone calls and there is no drain on the phone’s battery. Wi-Fi also offers superior sound quality and multi-room functionality.
The first products incorporating Minuet will be on shelves in Q4 this year – in time for the peak holiday sales period.
Over 20 manufacturers are currently using Minuet solutions to build Cast-enabled devices for a range of brands - to be announced later this year. Products being developed include wireless speakers, soundbars, and portable devices.
Several factors have contributed to the wide adoption of Minuet by these specialist manufacturers:
A full turnkey solution is provided - including module, firmware, apps, reference platform, software / hardware development support.
The company offers a feature-rich software development kit (SDK)
The solution offers best-in-class Wi-Fi performance
