I wonder if there may have been a bit of disappointment following Charles's Africa keynote. John had highlighted that once they had government contracts lined up that they make the public announcement at an African event... easy to have mistaken the past event as being the same thing
Tbh, given the rocket ride late last year to early Feb this year, most folks should be content with things to stay flat for the rest of the year.... its amazing however how quickly the crypto world gets bored and moves on
Said that I'd intended to buy more in a couple other alt coins like CHAIN and SPI. So signed in to buy and what do you know, CHAIN up over 200% and SPI jumped massively too since that post
Right idea, wrong timing
Made that initial mistake with ADA too, hence why average is so high
Ce la vie!
Some nice holdings there Cooper
I've sold off much of my earlier purchases today (IOTA, ETH, BNB, NEO etc). Consolidating. Will pick up more ETH as always good to have but looking to have fewer core holdings, a few higher risk ones (like CHAIN & SPI), then others for stable yield gains at 15%+ - which can't complain at given today's interest environment. Considering using SwissBorg for that, though Yield App is reasonable also. Am looking forward to ADA being added to such opportunities
I still have a lot more in regular investments. I'm large in ESGs offering 5-7% dividends, metal miners like CAML, and then diverse range of EV, battery, finance, O&G, energy, green infrastructure, comms & blockchain plays. In general, I want 20%, expect 10%, forecast 5%, and would be gutted with anything under that...lol
Financial freedom within 5 years would be great. Already able to bank 100% of salary due to ability to have dividends & side business activities pay for our lifestyle. Patience and quietly building. Few hundred grand with ADA wouldn't hurt though :)
Standard technical moves. e.g. MACD day reading at point of crossing back into positive territory always results in a swing. We clipped ATH, which traditionally breaks on 3rd effort (ie, next time), 4hr was overbought and is returning to 20 MA for support (which I'm guessing will also be around the 38% fib) AND also reinforcing 1.20 as support... basically, what looks to the novice as a steep drop is actually a very bullish signal
Trust you held gman
Saw that news also.
I watched interview with John O'Connor (the guy heading up ADA adoption in Africa) last night. He mentioned that they wouldn't hold an Africa news event prior to locking down Ethiopia government contract, so this should be big... I recommend watching, very informative regarding their strategy: (https://www.crypto-news-flash.com/cardano-iog-reveals-worlds-largest-blockchain-deployment-in-africa/) I love their idea about using staked ADA to create loans for african entrepreneurs, creating investment into the continent, whilst generation potential for significant returns for ADA holders. The 'Good pools' where staking rewards are dedicated to charities etc are also really clever... I really like where this is going as a movement.
I've forced myself not to buy any more ADA. Ended up picking up some DOT last night. Might grow my holdings in CHAIN and a few other high potentials
Cooper, if one day crypto gets recognised as a stable asset that can be used to comply with Basel IV standards, that it when things will reeaaally take off. Think it would equate to around $10trillion investment by central banks. Just image! And thing is, KMPG and some other giants are planning for this
Isn't it also tomorrow for the Africa keynote speech? https://blockchainafrica.co/speakers/charles-hoskinson-keynote-speaker/
Lot's of speculation about an announcement about this Ethiopian deal
Yoroi (see Cooper's post from 5th Mar) probably has best staking rewards.
I'm similarly elsewhere Gman. However, I'm not willing to sell and reinvest right now cause that could easily result in selling at the wrong time and buying back in 10-20% higher. The staking rewards are nice, but in the end, an extra couple of percent on the staking rewards is peanuts compared to the reason why we're really here.
Fair days Cooper, that's a reasonable conviction. My initial investments into crypto were very small. Bought half a dozen ETH, top slided half after they doubled and bought some ADA, IOTA etc which have since risen. Definitely not complaining about quadrupling money in just as 3 months. Have since been adding more, but crypto is still v new to me and makes v small (but growing) proportion of my overall portfolio. Am still more than content with a broad 10% increase across the whole portfolio, covers most of our living costs.
Just under $1.4 as I type. New highs tomorrow v likely indeed
Decided to buy a little DOT just for the sake of diversification. May possibly add a further few grand in upcoming weeks, but undecided.
Anyway, just saying 'hi'
Indeed, 10% swings are good on regular markets, but when things move here they really move.
Ethiopia news (if it's anything like what we think it could be) will be very important. As Cooper says, it will not only give a further rise but also cement in a new floor to the coin price. The main thing is that it will help to gain further interest from larger players because it will be the significant proof of concept that so many are critical against Cardano about.
With Cardano de-risked (so to speak), II's joining and project pipeline incoming, that sets the scene for significant improvement in price action.
Chand from FD7 is hoping for $20 by end of 2023. I'd be v happy with that by end of 2025. I think Cooper's more in line with Chand in terms of seeing this move up rapidly in the near term... Either way, it looks like we're all on to a winner here
@Cooper. So you're original investment was around $10k? Brilliant! V happy for you
I was v close on getting into Crypto after the crash in Mar last year. But crypto looked like it had been hit harder than other assets, so I ended up going large in traditional havens. Very bad decision. Ended up transitioning into some Bitcoin and Eth in december at almost 10x price it was earlier in the year, and then came here in Jan... Still, tis how it is
V nice holding. Congrats Cooper for holding on as you have
I took noticed in early Jan when this was 25cents, but was too slow to start building. Average purchase is ~80cents... double what it would of been if was just a week or so earlier.
Ach well, is what it is. Just need to be content and hold
If I were you, I'd gradually be selling down and diversifying. Even if it's just the staking rewards being sold at first. Other returns may not be as rosey, but a stable 5-10% on even half a mill gives a good lifestyle
Would love for you to be right. Id be pretty happy with $5 this year
$20 by 2025 is life changer

Huge news indeed!
Well, I picked up another 3.5k ADA at ~$1.26, so should of waited off a few days. But it's all somewhat similar in the long run
Wow, someone's buying now. It's up over 10% in 5 minutes
Personally, I see this primed for sharp drop. 0.85 should see support, but there may be a bear trap or stop loss triggering giving a flash crash lower towards 0.80 (ie. simular as happened to ETH a few weeks back)
Then I see upwards trend continuing into end of the month and into Q2... Its painful to watch, but all part of healthy sustained rise north
Ah well, looks like I should of held off on that last top up. See red week this week with possible dive with 50 day MA as support
May need to top slice elsewhere and sieze this incoming dip
Of course, always possibility of being wrong, but just calling it how I see it
Morning Cooper, yes, I saw that too
Funds have mastered the art of combining short plays with large purchases as a ways of gaining hold of a stock cheap. It will be no different with crypto
$20 in a couple of years is too aggressive for me to cling to, but I'd obviously welcome it. $40bn MC isn't something to sniff at, but when 70% is staked (understand it can be sold anytime) the free flow here is actually very tight within the context of asset classes.
I definitely agree with this though, and it is why I see some degree of multi bagging almost guaranteed:
"We are on the cusp of mass institutional adoption in crypto. I can tell you, when it comes to Cardano, Polkadot, and Ethereum, the institutional money is not going to wait 10 years this time. Bitcoin has given us the proof of concept that built trust in the market and forged a path for innovative altcoins to scale much faster." FD7 Chand
No worries Cooper, all good. It's always interesting to see the various approaches that people have, it's how we learn, right
ADA testing the 4hr 20 MA. Assuming that gets crossed, then the uptrend is officially back on.
Equally, to be honest, I'm fine it wants to hang around here for next few weeks/months and consolidate some. IT's always good to build up solid bases prior to further legs up. Those help limit downward movement during the sell offs
Absolute easiest would be something like etoro. The benefit with them is that you get automatically enrolled in staking (i.e. you get equivalent of monthly dividend at approximately 4% APY). However, their spread is huge at around 3-4%... If you're planning on just buying a small amount of ADA (under 5 grand say), holding for a few years and not trading, then that's a reasonable option.
Otherwise, you'll want to create an account with somewhere like crypto.com. You'll get first thirty days at no charges, so it's a cheap way of entering the game and ADA is on their main exchange. Cypto.com can then be linked up with crypto wallets like MetaMask & then Uniswap which will give you access to most of the other crypto that aren't on these exchanges. However, the charges involved at a transaction level can be quite high. For example, I put a couple of grand into one crypto last weekend and the charges stacked up to over $100s. For me, I don't mind as short-term window for me is 3 years, but I'm not sure how worth it it is if you may only be investing a smaller amount for a shorter time horizon... Note: this is one of the challenges that ADA seeks to resolve and why it's expected to dominate the crypto space moving forward
FYI: ADA has just bounced off of the 20 day MA and is looking like there's potential to resume the uptrend. Not a bad time to start buying... equally, with crypto, if you can't handle 20% swings, dont waste your time. The emotion will drive you to sell and you'll lose money. Buy it, leave it, maybe even add to it, that's where the money is made
Well... ended up buying another couple thousand ADA this morning after all.
I've been looking a bit into LINK of late also @Cooper. Thanks for sharing
I'm anticipating a couple of burns in crypto. However, we are so obviously at the beginning of a new industry. Mention crypto and your average investor thinks bitcoin. The wider financial world remains numb to the potential of what's happening here. As this gradually gets unlocked (hopefully ADA being primary driver behind mainstream adoption), I really see the wider space properly taking off.
Patience with discipline should serve us well here... What I mean by discipline is remembering to take profits and not get greedy. That invites selling on the dips and all that which we got to avoid... My focus now is to build positions in what I see as upcoming players for the next couple of years (i.e. gaming, crypto shopping, transparent fund raising and interoperability).
Thanks for posting Cooper
I don't have any DOT myself, but these investments do generate an appeal to at least learn more about it.
Future is increasingly looking cemented for ADA which is excellent. Significant investment into the eco-sphere offers much more long term prospects than simply them purchasing ADA on the market. Excellent read!
Keep wanting to buy more, but equally want to avoid over exposure. After recent rises I'm already over 5% of my whole portfolio in ADA...A point where I'd usually focus on top slicing, but feels like we haven't even got started here
Unsure if of interest, but have been looking into CHAIN (chain games), SPI (shopping.io), SWAP (Trustswap) and a few other potential movers of late. Take a look at their white papers to learn more if you're interested
