Just need to be careful with both BAT and IMB - prices have always seemed cheap with great divis, but depreciating SP is a constant worry.
Believe you have to be active by averaging down when necessary, collecting divis and trading out when prices rise.
Not sure you're going to get a stress free ride but good luck.

I know this share tests your patience and I first got in just short of £30.
I'm no expert but by averaging down and collecting dividend kept me above water.
I've only just returned and know your comments are spot on if you stay passive.

Always relieved when it gets to 4.30
Think we both need to review our buying policy - I've also had a stinker of a month.
My only minor success this month has been timing in and out of BP.
Good luck for March, and tuck away the tobacco shares, sit back and collect the tasty divis.
Contrarian
As I understand a final dividend of 14.3, and in additional payment of 13.8 relating to a deferred divi.
I hope this is correct - all I have read so far is not clear.

It's such an unpredictable share - only predictability is that it goes down!
From past experience it's about averaging down, buying when really low and getting out on any recovery - simples.
Currently averaging at 1485 so will be here for a while!
Good luck

I fully understand your scepticism. I summarise below having checked my trades.
1) The Jan 2018 purchased was averaged down afterwards and sold at 2955 in July 2018
2) The May and June 2019 again were averaged down and exited in July 2019 at 2083.
Not clever just lucky. As you say divis reduce the pain.
In again but not at previous levels

Are you still in?
I have bought two tranches since consolidation, and still feel comfortable on future prospects.
Out of interest have you reviewed Morrisons? Thoughts?
It should be interesting tomorrow to see how much money comes back in tomorrow.
Having seen recent comments about share price rise to 2500 -3000 I can see no reason that this will ever get back to these elevated levels.
I have reviewed some of my historic purchases.
Jan 2018 - 2978
May 2019 - 1947 - 2229
June 2019 - 1860
Somehow traded out with a profit but more by luck than judgement !!
I recently invested again as price looked attractive, and hope I'm wrong but these high forecasts are sprinkled with fairy dust.
Bought Bats for the first time today.
My share picks are variable so it may be a warning sign to holders!!
Hold IMB and that's been a dog so hoping for better here.
This appears to offer good dividend value at current levels
