Just my two penn’oth but think that figure of 207m for restoration & reclamation is way too low. Have a look on Google maps, it’s a big job. You might get a few bob back for plant, vehicles @ buildings etc but not much.

Someone gave me a book on holiday not long ago called No Country for Girls by Emma Styles and wasn’t going to bother till I saw it was set in W.A. It wont win any literary awards but its a rip roaring tale through the outback involving a gold mine & stolen gold. I could smell the desert just reading it.

Hi Ace, 1981, mechanical side. I did a 2 week shutdown for Skilled Engineering. There wasn’t much doing in Perth at the time so I stayed on for about 6 months. I enjoyed it but hottest I’ve ever known in my life. 50deg some days. Was based over ground but went down the decline a few times with the shift sparkys. What were you on? I also worked at Gunpowder Copper in Nth Queensland installing the new rod mill. Good days, just retired to GGP watching. Great story unfolding soon I think.

I worked at Gunpowder Copper in N. Queensland late 70’s then Leinster Nickel early 80’s. Great experience but hot as hell. I was feeling woozy one day at Leinster and I thought it was the previous nights beer but the foreman said get in the control room lad it’s air conditioned and it’s just hit 50 deg here.

I’ve not been to Kalgoorlie for 40 years but there used to be a visitor attraction to go down an old gold mine. It was really good and recommended if it’s still going.

Wouldn’t one very much assist the other?
