hardly inspires...but that's true of most elections here and abroad ...we are lucky to enjoy a long history of moderate mediocrity..democracy seems incapable of offering anything much better ...the electorate should be challenged over their lazy assumptions: growth good, liberalism good, monarchy good, flag/nationalism good...but that doesn't happen in a mature democracy... and I am happy to stay in the UK so shouldn't whinge... too much ...Here's my manifesto for the Responsibility and Solidarity Party (Jolly small membership lol) ..1. Assimilating secular Republic (less liberal than multiculturalism...normative...vigorous assertion of Britishness and responsibility to contribution to common good/wealth) ..2. Earned Citizen's wage (earning through national - or decently long - community service...best approach to erase poverty trap: the current steep withdrawal of benefits for poor workers as they earn money) ..3. Secular Jihad on tax dodging: no ifs/buts...no tax avoidance schemes at all (including ISAs and pensions)...no non doms: work here/pay here..no offshoring of profits: all assessed corporate profits in UK paid here irrespective of jurisdiction of incorporation...individuals pay tax on all capital and income earned..in current year..end of ..4 Reduce Population (growth is main source of damage to World)
