@sandancer
Yes, HL and AJ Bell have both confirmed to me that they also do not lend out shares
One thing I don't really understand about shorting, (I say one but there is in fact loads I don't understand about shorting) is from the view of the Lender.
The 'ultimate' payday for the shorter is to reduce the value of the shares borrowed to zero, even on a smaller scale, the aim of the shorter is to reduce the value of the share
- SO, what drives the lender (the owner) to lend his/her shares out to the shorters, knowing the aims of said shorters?
Ok, the owner receives some interest from the borrower, but having reduced the value of those borrowed shares , the owner receives back much reduced value, or ultimately, shares which are worth possibly zilch!
Don't think I've ever seen shorting discussed from the point of view of the lender - Where's their incentive?
"bad day for those who sold last week after weeks and weeks of ramping"
That's not YOU having a dig at your biggest buddyToffers is it Munich?
Whatever next!
(Probably Toffers telling us all she got back in before the rise today, with another zillion shares!)
@Mokey re Toffers
My thoughts all along Mokey but so well articulated -absolutely spot on mate!!
Genuinely sorry to hear of your 'problems' Toffers.
The relieving of the 'stress' you have lies fortunately, unlike others, in your own hands.
The constant posting, the unsubstantiated nonsense claims and counterclaims for eg. blaming shorters for the SP fall having sold 400,000 shares yourself, or the "shorts are going long now" when you have no way whatsoever of knowing that, and in fact it turns out the opposite has happened.
Of course this is going to attract criticism, it's a BB for heaven's sake.
This share has attracted those looking for a 'possible' payday (and I include myself in that) and also those who see the other side of the argument. They have just as much right as yourself to their opinion. Do I like it, no, but I don't see myself as a victim because I'm disagreed with.
You are evidently a sensitive person, you feel you are 'attacked' by a cohort of posters who are in cahoots with each other - no, it's just a number of people who aren't very important in the scheme of things, like yourself, and they simply just don't agree with you.
Relax a little Toffers, take a bit of time off from this BB if it upsets you so much, dial down the stress and hopefully you don't make yourself ill again.
You got a cheek Toffers "all of us who are invested and not shorting" - you've just offloaded 400,000 shares !!!
Unbelievable!
Apologies fordy, wasn't trying to teach granny how to suck eggs, so good luck to you!
- "Shorts are going long, sickening really, as they've forced the share price down, and are now getting in low"
- "I'm looking at the number of buys going through johnychainlocker, compared to the last week or two, doesn't that tell you something?
"No change in reportable shorts today Toffers " (my reply)
Sorry Toffers, I was a bit quick off the mark earlier, looks like the shorts reported an increase yesterday, not going long at all!
Millenium declared new 0.5% short !
What a load of old tosh you spout, and I'm sorry all posters to keep banging on, but Toffers really needs calling out for what she is - an absolute fraud!
Very honest Badvoc, hope all goes well obviously, and hope you're right also MaryBr, I could really do with a £1 SP!
Fordy mate- no-one is telling you to sell up. Just be aware of what is going on. This is a BB and it's full of sh.ite. Especially Toffers. It's a 'punt' and it just may come good.
I'm holding , nowhere near the supposed amount our friend Toffers is supposed to be holding, but i'm hoping.
Never followed superdry in my life, drawn to it only as a possible buy out, can afford to lose but hoping, fingers crossed, to make a little. Have no faith in 'Superdunk' at all, but who knows?
Pause and think mate, only put in what you can 'afford' to lose. Think of it as a bet on the Cheltenham Gold Cup!
Good luck
Give it a rest mann from Munich ffs!
Fordy - been trying to tell you, Toffers is an absolute fraud, she's been ramping this for weeks on the basis of nothing but some maniacal obsesssion with 'Superdunk'. She talks about conspiracy theories, market manipulation, Cheltenham festival, people shorting with minor sells, etc etc, and yet she shows her true self with massive sell.
Looks like you have maybe 'seen the light' and good luck to you, even if you 'stay the course' be aware, as I'm sure you already are, this is a pure punt, and I for one don't believe a single word printed by our friend Toffers, who is IMHO, as 'mad as a hatter!', and a pure plant
- "Shorts are going long, sickening really, as they've forced the share price down, and are now getting in low"
- "I'm looking at the number of buys going through johnychainlocker, compared to the last week or two, doesn't that tell you something?
No change in reportable shorts today Toffers (apart from yours, of course!) - doesn't that tell YOU something?
(Of course it will be 'everybody else's fault', 'MM manipulation', 'Nomad's fault', I'm battered and bruised hence I decided to MASSIVELY reduce my stake, blah, blah, blah
You're a fraud Toffers!
Just got back in from day out.
What a complete fraud you are Toffers. You're there blaming all the 'shorters' for the SP drops and price manipulation etc.,etc.,etc and you've sold 400,000 odd shares- not 400, not 4,000, not 40,000 but 400,000!!!
Jeez, Seems to me you're the most serious shorter out there apart from GSA!
What a hypocrite!
Toffers I really have no issue with you, personally. SOME of your posts are informative but it's the sheer number of posts which contain absolute crap that I take issue with.
How on earth can you say with any certainty whatsoever that "shorts are going long"? Where do you get that information from?
I note also all the 'conspiracy theories emerge when the SP is falling, but none appear when the SP rises
SO, last post on this (on my part) for the sake of others
On the one hand, at 1224hrs you say all these minor sales caused a "crash", and on the other, you can see (although you refuse to admit it) that the hundreds of small trades at 1534 had the opposite (although small) effect of the price rising.
No crash there then!
Doesn't stand up fordy, just doesn't stand up!
New Moniker - fordy!
Fordy pal, quote " This happened today twice at 1224 and again at 1534"
Your words not mine, and absolute tosh!
And the fact that vol bought outweighing vol. sold and the price reacting not as one would think is absolute par for the course in the stockmarket, as you should well know.
Almost all PI's believe the Market is 'manipulated', especially when the market moves against you, BUT - 15:34:07 price 24.05 - 16:30 price 24.35p - where was this crash?
When did the SP come "crashing" fordy? Those numerous small trades occurred at 15:34:07 - price 24.05p.
In the immediate aftermath of those tiny sales the price actually rose!
The trades continued at prices in excess of 24.05, going into end of day at a closing price of 24.35pence
I ask again, where is the "brings the SP crashing" malarkey
You not smoking the same stuff as Sticky are you?
Desperate times for a desperate 'Dunk' @coxon
