I am 100% okay with HSBC not paying any more dividends this year, BUT to not pay one after the Record date has passed is a bit much.
I wouldn't of expected a company like HSBC to welsh on an I.O.U which what it was. A promise to pay the owner of the shares on the record date 21 cents.
How can they cancel a dividend after we past the record date ? That is the same as bouncing a cheque. I fully understand the need to cancel future dividends this year but not the one due on the 14th after already passing Record date.

Thanks for that. There is certainly plenty to read on there.
All the technology is available so one of the builders should do an experimental site of say 30 or 40 houses.
Your ideas are good.
These houses really would fly off the shelf and at a premium to a normal house price so no money lost by the builder on profit margin.
Each new building estate needs an area left as grass for the kids and some trees aswell. Nowhere near as many Trees / Bushes and plants in peoples gardens as there was in the 1970's, and now people are coving their gardens in patterned concrete / block paving and astroturf, not very good for birds and bees etc.
Co2 absorbution by trees and plants seems so simple, it is natural and works. My friend works for NG and they are working on Carbon Capture now and putting it back in the ground. Sounds more complicated than planting more trees and stopping cutting down the existing ones.

The house directly behind mine has a water heater on the roof. It is a series of black tubes, total size of panel is about 2.5m x 2m. I am guessing the warm water is stored in a tank in the loft space of ther house. Seems a good Idea. The owner of the house is a plumber so it only cost him the price or the parts.
Anybody
What is wrong with having a bit of chatter ? There is not much happening re TW at the moment so not much to say.
Bamps raised a very point yesterday morning so I will repost it now :
Quote from Bamps:
I'm very surprised that house builders aren't jumping on the band wagon of climate change. Every new site should be self sufficient in energy i.e. Ground source heat pumps, wind, solar, energy storage.
Can you imagine how the sales would be on the first energy efficient site.

Just look at what forest can absorb in Co2 per tree per year at maturity. Then there is the bonus of them returning clean oxygen into the air as a byproduct. It is a win win alround. All we need is forests and lots of them.
https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2019/sep/12/deforestation-world-losing-area-forest-size-of-uk-each-year-report-finds
An area of forest the size of the UK is being lost every year around the world, the vast majority of it tropical rainforest, with dire effects on the climate emergency and wildlife.
The rate of loss has reached 26 million hectares (64 million acres) a year
This is criminal. Those numbers are ridiculous.

My theory is that it is deforestation that is causing global warming because there are not enought trees to absorb the Co2. So a good thing would be to stop cutting down thousands of acres of forests each year to meet the peoples demand for palm oil and Avocados ? I wonder if Greta eats Avocados ? I wonder if she checks that she doesn't consume any products containing palm oil. In my opinion this contributes more Co2 or lack of Co2 absorption by trees than car emissions or emissions from standard household boilers.

Thats what I was looking for. Deforestation due to growing palm oil and peoples demand for Avocados etc has a bigger effect than cars.

Deforestation and Its Extreme Effect on Global Warming
From logging, agricultural production and other economic activities, deforestation adds more atmospheric CO2 than the sum total of cars and trucks on the world's roads

The new law will only apply to Newly built houses . The goverment is not going to make every change their existing boiler for an alternative. It is similar to the all electric car law that will come in 2035. No one will have to scrap their Hybrid / Petrol or diesel car. They just won't be able to buy a new one.
Regarding Co2 emmision when is Greta going to go and have a rant to China and India ? if UK is only putting out 1% of the worlds Co2 and only 10% of that is from cars then I can't see how it will make much difference to the planet if China is putting out 29% of worlds Co2, and the biggest Chinese energy supplier there wants to biuld 300 to 500 new coal fired powerstations before 2030. What we need is more trees in the world to take Co2 out of the air. Problem is there is massive deforestation to grow bloody Avacados for vegans :)), I blame vegans for Glabal warming

I thought the ban was 2025 ?
