Itaconix® DSP™, CHT™ AkzoNobel – Chelates Application Agreement On 5 September 2017, Itaconix announced the signing of an application agreement with AkzoNobel’s Specialty Chemicals unit to evaluate and develop
innovative bio - based chelates for use in the consumer and in dustrial detergents and cleaners markets.
AkzoNobel is a world leader in chelation products and bio - based chelates such as Itaconix ® DSP™ and CHT™
show promise for use in laundry detergents, bathroom cleaners and other consumer and commercial cleaning
products, and are replacements for phosphates which are being phased out due to environmental concerns.
On 16 May 2018, Itaconix announced that following a successful technical and regulatory evaluation, AkzoNobel’s
Chelates’ business had formally notified Itaconix of its intention to enter into a joint marketing effort related to Itaconix’s innovative bio - based chelates for use in the consumer and industrial detergents and cleaners markets. There are still outstanding commercial details to be finalised with an agreement expected to be concluded before the end of 2018. The goal is to establish a strong multi-year relationship to deliver Itaconix’s innovative bio-based chelates to customers worldwide, thereby supporting the development of high performance, sustainable, consumer products using Itaconix technology.

Increasing consumer expectations, regulatory changes and environmental best practice are resulting in major consumer product companies seeking to improve product performance whilst replacing traditional ingredients with sustainable alternatives. This trend is widespread, with notable examples being Unilever, P&G and L’Oreal,and many of the major specialty chemicals companies including AkzoNobel and Solvay have signed up to an initiative called “Together for Sustainability” designed to improve the sustainability of chemical industry supply chains. We believe that Itaconix is strategically well aligned with this long term mega-trend and positioned to play a significant future role in the redesign of many supply chains to improve both the performance and the environmental sustainability of consumer and industrial products.

The designer and manufacturer of speciality polymers said its sales had been boosted by its second generation detergent polymer, which gained new accounts and usage in non-phosphate detergents.

The company, which raised £3.2mln through an equity raise last month, said significant costs were being taken out of the business and that it aimed to reach profitability soon as its customer pipeline advances.

“With funding in place and a cost base aligned with the needs of our customer projects and collaboration partnering, the company's strategy for building the value of our bio-based itaconate chemistry platform is starting to be reflected in financial performance and commercial momentum is building,” Itaconix said in a statement.

“Our focus is on rapidly converting our pipeline of customer projects into revenue growth and expanding our revenue potential with collaborations in new product areas,” it added.

Spike we don't know how many more sales have been made since the end of December or how many new products they are bringing on board.
I get your point about the cash situation at the moment and the time scales they have enough cash for 12 months. Luckily the market is forward looking. The management have reduced costs by moving to the Us.

They are using Itx ingredients in these products. Everything Itx are doing is like Jonnyfo said a fit with Crodas products. Time may be an issue or it may not depending if Croda want to be a partner or a buyer of the tech. And how much the Anobel deal is worth. It is very obvious Anobel are here to stay as they have a few had a few collaborations with Itx over the years.

Chelants bind calcium ions in water which would otherwise react with soap, creating “soap scum” and limiting the effectiveness of laundry and ADW cleaning systems.

Recent regulatory changes in the US and Europe requiring the removal of traditional phosphate-based chelants (which are harmful to the environment) are driving manufacturers to reformulate their laundry and ADW products. Using its patented manufacturing process with break through economics, Itaconix has produced the regulatory compliant, bio-based products Itaconix®DSP™ and Itaconix®CHT™, which have superior metal ion binding capacity, to replace such traditional chelants.

There is a continued consumer trend in personal care products towards sustainability, and to “go green”. In April 2016, Itaconix launched a bio-based ingredient, RevCare™ NE 100S, a hair fixative polymer for use in hair styling products. RevCare NE 100S is a high performance hair styling ingredient that offers an outstanding, non-tacky hold even in high humidity environments. The product can also provide anti-frizz benefits, without building-up or weighing down hair. Hair styled with the product has outstanding sensory properties and retains a touchable soft, natural feel. The polymer is derived from natural plant based sources.

The hair styling polymers market is estimated at $400m pa. Itaconix is accessing this significant market via direct engagement with the major hair styling formulators, and using third party distributors to reach medium and smaller sized players.

Itaconix is delivering a major cost-effective breakthrough to the global odour neutralisation industry that is seeking new high-performance solutions. Itaconix® ZINADOR™ 22L (ZINADOR) is a bio-based product that is readily soluble in water and does not leave any residual materials. As a result, it meets key unmet customer needs in the growing consumer and industrial markets for odour control.

In January 2017, Itaconix signed an exclusive global supply and joint marketing agreement with Croda Inc. (Croda) for ZINADOR. Under the terms of the agreement, the parties are working together to grow and supply worldwide demand for ZINADOR. Itaconix is producing ZINADOR for Croda and Croda is marketing and selling ZINADOR in household, municipal, animal and industrial applications.
