Any refinance deal will have to be approved by the shareholders, MA owns 29 pecent so it's in his interest and the other major shareholders to accept a deal that shareholders are a part of. MA is not going away and will probably up his offer and force a shareholders vote for control and there's nothing the board can do about it as shareholders have the last say. It's a shame debs has let it's self be vulnerable for this kind of takeover but at the end of the day shareholders have the last say on who runs the company .I wonder what MA would vote for !!!

Yes the trick is getting in when there is news of possible bid and restructuring with a small amount and be resigned to it may be lost it is like you have to be in it to win it in these circumstances. So I did that with TC and added at the low prices as I went along. :-)

Debenhams is relocating its head office on London’s Regent’s Place to its flagship store on Oxford Street later this year, as part of its restructuring programme.

Real estate firm British Land has agreed to surrender the lease on the department store chain’s London support centre at Regent’s Place on 1 November. It had been due to run to 2038. The space has been re-let to Facebook.

Debenhams will return its central functions to the upper floors of its London flagship on Oxford Street, where they will be closer to the business and to customers.

It has a lease that runs until 2039 and will trade on a footprint of 185,000 sq ft over five floors once the head office is relocated. It previously traded on a footprint of 250,000 sq ft over seven floors.

The head office was previously situated at the Oxford Street store until 2013.

Rubbish the shares may never reach what MA paid for him.. I was in THOMAS COOK airline from 18p when it was bust nearly and they restructured in the same way they are going to do here. I held and it reached 185 with in 12 months.. nice try deramper.

Really well we will see,10 million is not to be sneezed at MA is not known for being flippant with his cash, and if the right restructuring is done he stands to get his shares back where they where in SP in the future. And I am sure that all of us invested now know the high risk of it all, but also the high reward this is what it is all about. So the fact remains at this stage we are either in or out of DEB now. I am in and invested just £2000 and what I am not afraid to lose if need be. :-) That said I am very optimistic of a good outcome.

t is looking like a bid or helping with shareholders so his own will not be wiped out. They( the bod) are doing it his way going for lower rents agreements and closing stores. So he will like the sound of that.

"Ashley's now between a rock and a hard place. He faces either seeing his stake in Debenhams disappear, or having to stump up cash to keep shares in the company alive," said Hargreaves Lansdown analyst Laith Khalaf.

Debenhams said on Friday the 200 million pounds was in two facilities. A first of 101 million pounds has been drawn but the second of 99 million pounds is subject to one of various "milestones" being reached by April 8.

These include Sports Direct making a firm offer for the company that includes a refinancing of its debt and sufficient working capital.

Alternatively Sports Direct can cancel its request for a meeting of shareholders to remove Debenhams' entire board, apart from its finance chief, and instead make a commitment to either underwrite a rights issue or provide debt funding.

"If these milestones are not satisfied, the second facility would be available to the group's subsidiaries only upon transfer of those subsidiaries into the ownership of a lender-approved entity," Debenhams said.

While this outcome would allow the business to continue trading "it would very likely result in no equity value for the company's current shareholders."

Debenhams said it would also move to the next phase of its restructuring, which includes reducing rents and closing stores.
