Europe mixed in premarket with Middle East crisis in focus
Major European stock markets traded mixed in premarket hours on Thursday with a focus on the growing tensions in the Middle East following a drone attack in Syria and Israel's strikes on the Lebanese capital of Beirut on Wednesday night. Investors also awaited today's reports on consumer prices in Switzerland and the composite Purchasing Managers Index (PMI) reports from Germany and the Eurozone.
The DAX was flat at 8:00 am CET, while the FTSE jumped by 0.14%. At the same time, the CAC 40 declined by 0.67% and the Euro Stoxx 50 slipped by 0.52%.
The euro lost 0.15% against the dollar, selling for $1.10281 at 7:58 am CET. Meanwhile, the pound sterling was down by 0.62% compared to the dollar and sold for $1.31852 at 7:59 am CET.
