Chris Heminway, Exec-Chair at Time To ACT, explains why now is the right time for the Group to IPO. Watch the video here.
Hipho… just for clarity, my understanding is that Mr Battershill stepped down as CEO at the end of 2023 but remains on the Board as a non-executive director. As such, I would expect him to continue to contribute to the oversight of AYM’s strategic decisions.
Don’t know whether he’ll remain more “hands-on” while they recruit a new CEO.
Sounds like a fun-filled gathering, John!
May I add my own best wishes to all LTHs who, like me, have persevered with AYM over the decades. Season's Greetings and let's raise a glass of Cwrw Sir Fon (or whatever) to long-awaited success in 2024!
Sure is quiet…. tumbleweed bowling along Amlwch’s streets last week.
For the interest of anyone who hasn’t seen it, here is a link (hope it works) to an informative little leaflet put out by the Copper Kingdom people: copperkingdom.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/PMTrailLeaflet.pdf
Might make a break from the Sunday crossword.
Keep the faith, all ye long-termers!
As Mike says, copper and zinc are both metals, elements and minerals. However, neither can be described as rare and both are indeed relatively abundant.
Of course, if we coin our own definition of “rare” as something that hasn’t been mined at Parys Mountain for 200 or so years, both copper and zinc fit the bill.
Bob, both you and Brent make valid points (not mutually exclusive!) There have been several encouraging developments (initially encouraging, at least!) since our meeting with Bill Hooley several years ago (Peter McParland’s involvement and the appointment of a CEO, for example). What’s missing remains a realistic and credible timescale (for all the permitting etc etc) that potential financiers and investors large and small can work with. Without that timetable unfortunately, doubts inevitably set in.
For my sins, I’ve held AYM shares for over 30 years, starting at 30p and adding more down to 1.5p, selling a goodly chunk at over 90p near the peak of the LIM adventure (would that I had sold the lot at that point!) and subsequently seeing the price trail down to the level we endure today. So I’m aware that AYM is capable of pulling a rabbit out of a hat…. who knows, they may yet do that again at Grangesberg or with another project from left field?... but would prefer to see solid progress with their Parys asset. For the time being, I’ll keep the faith!
Regarding the Bubble controversy, I’ve always held the view that all contributors are entitled to express their opinions (provided they’re not illegal!). Over the years, a few folks have tried to police or impose their personal standards on this bulletin board. (I’m sure you remember dear old Trev2, who never failed to correct my syntax… I genuinely miss him greatly. Or Gordon Bowden RIP, of Pandora’s Box fame, who I definitely do not miss!) As another Gordon posted earlier today, we can hopefully avoid any cancellation tendencies.
Brent, I’ve given thought to your suggestion of another meeting at Amlwch this year but I’m afraid I don’t have the time to take over the task. Maybe it would be best to think about a get together next year…. who knows what 2024 holds for AYM and it’s merry band of shareholders?
Many thanks Brent. Sorry I couldn't join the site visit (illness has restricted my gallivanting recently) but I'm very appreciative of your efforts in organising this gathering. Your takeaway points are most helpful (and encouraging) too.
Sounds as if I may have less than another 33 years to wait (see previous email) to see AYM thriving, supporting the local community and making a healthy return for us LTHs! Kind regards.
Sorry to hear you're no longer in, Mike.... accounts for the ever-decreasing share price, perhaps!
I've been invested in AYM at various levels for (I think... memory fades) 33 years. Made a bit of money on the LIM blip but otherwise it's been a long and lonely road, enlivened only by this message board.
For all our sakes, I hope for real progress... and soon. If it takes another 33 years I'll be long since gone!
Good luck all.
Good point, Troajan.
Although not on the current BGS list, zinc is defined as a critical mineral in the 2022 US Geological Survey list. Whether or not the UK follows the US in designating zinc a critical mineral, the US view is clear. (Copper is not on the US list but could be a candidate for the next revision).
Tommy- After the recent encouraging signs from AYM, a belated “thank you” to you for your astute analysis and helpful comments.
Your predictions have proved to be spot-on so far: let’s all hope that we see continued, positive action reflected in a sustained rise in the share price. As one of the longest-standing LTHs (a dubious honour!) I feel we’ve waited quite long enough….
Lovely pics of Parys Mountain on Beyond the Line this evening (ITV 8pm). Can be watched on catch-up.
Exciting moment catching a glimpse of a drilling rig in the background (I think so at least, though I must admit to having enjoyed a small glass of Sister Absalom's Tonic Wine (guaranteed almost alcohol-free) with my dinner).
When I lived in Berffro we often rowed (no kayaks!) out of the Ffraw and followed the coast north to Church-in-the-Sea and Cable Bay, doing our best to avoid the then-active missile range at Ty Croes. I guess that would still make a nice outing.
More recently, we’ve taken borrowed kayaks out from Trearddur to Rhoscolyn Beacon: highly recommended. I suggest you consult Diver Mike for more info on the Mon coast as he knows these waters well.
Agree with you re the Coast Path. I walked the Wales Coast Path in its entirety (just before lockdown!) and judged northern Anglesey and (most of) Pembrokeshire to be the most dramatic sections.
