Not impressed with charges14 Oct 2014 14:19
Like lots of people, I became involved with HL through the Post Office deal. I looked through the site and decided it made share dealing and fund management very easy. However since then they have increased their fees significantly.
I'm happy(ish) with the managed funds, but it's the shares that get me.
I like to trade a few shares each year, but tend to hang onto them long term (several years for the dividends). So, my trades cost £11.95 each, but if I have a holding of, say, £5,000 in a company, HL are charging 0.45% just for holding them, i.e. £22.50 a year.
Am starting to look elsewhere for somewhere to hold my shares, as I don't see why I should be charged a holding fee.
