Kapkina is right in that the seismic is worth more when oil is found, ie if the first spud is successful then people will look at the seismic data in a different light to now, which is an unproven (if exciting) oil province.
In my opinion the money had to be spent on the seismic data, it will bear fruit once we have a major on board and show proof that the potential shown by the data is real.
There is still value in the data now, however, if anyone else wanted to explore the province the data BPC have already obtained (historical as well as the 3D) then they will need this data. The historical data cannot be reporoduced and is in our hands.
