Money manager Neil Woodford is locked in talks with private equity as he looks to free up cash by selling stakes in unlisted companies.
Woodford is seeking buyers for hard-to-sell businesses in his Equity Income fund, which was shut to investors three weeks ago after running out of ready money to pay them back.
The 59-year-old is seeking to sell holdings in several firms not listed on the stock market. As they are often smaller and riskier than big public companies, it can be hard to find a bidder.
