Vavoua is turning out to be much bigger and better than I expected.
Agreed Farq, the pegmatites are there in the outcropping so good news to get the exploration licence and hopefully expand the RE in time.
A smart move to follow the pegmatite trend southwards towards the highway imo.
Swest, have a look at Kathryn Goodenough’s ‘LCT Pegmatites- An African Story’ on You Tube to see what the Principle Geologist at the British Geological Survey says about the Spodumene ore at Ewoyaa.
It’s very informative and a good listen.
This is a tweet from Kathryn Goodenough, Principle Geologist of the British Geological Survey. It highlights the ‘Ore Deposits Hub’ talks that are on You Tube. ‘Lithium Pegmatites- An African Story’ is excellent. Ironridge feature quite a bit in her talk about African Cratons, Lithium across Africa, including LCT Pegmatites and Spodumene. Ewoyaa is quite different but why is that?
This is her tweet below:
“The @OreDepositsHub is a fantastic platform for mining & minerals talks & discussions, so I was very pleased yesterday to give a talk on our @BritGeoSurvey work in collaboration with @WitsGeos on #Lithium pegmatites in Africa - if you missed it, it's on” You Tube or see the link on Twitter.
Ewoyaa - Spodumene is the main ore body
Ewoyaa - Large bladed crystals, unusual and important
Ewoyaa - Different from other deposits & more consistent because it doesn’t have much late stage alteration.
Whilst Gold continues to be the main focus at IronRidge. Keep an eye on the wider Lithium & battery metals supply chain and the increasing demand & supply squeeze. Look across the sector to see the changing sentiment. The US Senate committee for Energy and Natural Resources have exposed a stark reality this week and the impact will ripple out.
MB - I posted 7 times in May. A lot less before that.
I’ve posted twice in June. The last post was, word for word transcribed from Vincent Mascolo’s interview with Charlie Stephenson released on 7th June (I often play & pause interviews & type them out to ensure I don’t miss anything).
I’ve done a lot of comparative research across West Africa and have willingly shared most of what I’ve found on other platforms but not all.
I don’t engage much on bulletin boards whether it be HC or LSE or any of the newer platforms. I prefer twitter and find the access to webinars to be really helpful and informative. Most of my time on twitter is spent on EV and supply chains.
I do go and meet CEO and their geologists though which I’d highly recommend, whatever the company & in any sector.
My main interest at the moment is across Lithium, not just spodumene but Lithium Brines, Clays and GeoThermal too. The Lithium disconnect continues and supply chains are not secure.
As a result of that research I’ve invested in two direct extraction companies and the disruptive tech.
Lithium Carbonate and Hydroxide are both in demand but to meet qualification low impurities are essential.
Beyond that I’m looking again at the Cathode Chemistry and the anodes. I’ll leave you to work out why and it’s so important.
The U.K. will have three or four gigafactories and a new one was in the news yesterday with South Wales as the preferred option of BritishVolt.
The EV, clean air etc is what interested me years ago. It’s great to see the transition.
If you consider this to be a ramp, then so be it.
It really doesn’t matter.
Good luck
“Zaranou- 2Moz In this 3km section we’re drilling. Potentially, times that by 15 = 30M0z well if we get half way there, we’re on to a bonanza. (One of the largest gold discoveries in CDI and at surface). A short timeline to development of pits in quick succession with the help of the government.
Côte d’Ivoire - Gold resources with anomalies along known faults. Pipeline- Effectively we have 3 gold province scale projects:
1-Zaranou ( + Bodite & Bianouan) MM Oz
2-Kineta North/South (Multi million Oz deposit) + Marahui
3-Vavoua North/South nr Abuja resource (looking very interesting & getting noticed)
We know (we’re very confident) that the projects are gold bearing by virtue of the aero magnetic surveys that we did jointly and it’s confirmed with correlation of ground works that those gold bearing geological structures do carry into the north and south of our projects.
One of the largest tenure holders in CDI with 3,800km2, all in good standing” VM
This is just the comment on CDI gold. The Ghana Lithium comments were incredible imo. I don’t think Vince is too wide of the mark either. Listen to it again or scribe what he says.
It’s a perfect project imo, Q1 in every criteria and with Quality, Quantity & Qualification secures over a 20yr mine life. Big M/A action coming in.
swest42 & mike29, take a look and listen to Charlie Stephenson’s interview with Vince Mascolo that’s just been posted on twitter. (@sicapital) & by (@GeologyCharlie).
It’s worth going to look for it. I won’t say anything else about it yet until people have seen it.
‘Absolute M...’ How big is Zaranou?
Swest42, I believe your comment about S.Crow the other day was wide of the mark. He has continued to be positive and supportive about Ironridge imo since selling his shares. I have taken the opportunity to ask him questions about IRR at 121 events in London when LKE are attending but not IRR. I’m invested in both.
Anyway, enjoy watching the Si Capital interview. It’s been frustrating as an IRR investor but looks like it’s going to be an exciting run to the end of the year.
Anyway I’m off to sing ‘We’re half way there’ as Vince
referenced. Do the numbers.
Wrong on multiple fronts MB. You’ve obviously not been tuned in to EVfest - Supply Chain festival this week and have not joined the dots of what’s coming.
Giga to Tera. Disruptive tech, tech money into supply chains, Big Chem and others I’ll let you do your own research on. French $6bn UK ?bn (guess what’s coming?) Where will the 3 UK gigafactories be built.?
I think IRR will prepare the Lithium for the next phase. There’s a shortage of projects so who is after Ghana lithium?
It takes 7 years to get a project through to production so any new companies starting now are way to late to hit the peak demand for Lithium. IRR are a couple of years in with a proven resource and have shown they have quality feedstock, quantity at 14.5Mt @1.31% (30% @ 1.39%) that will pass through the qualification process required. Add in those exceptional logistics and you have a desirable asset. Valuing it is more difficult as supply chains remain insecure and tipping point gets closer.
You can do your own research.
The fact that Zaranou gold project has been prioritised over Ewoyaa should tell you something about how good Zaranou is. I think you’re in for a surprise.
As for Chad, as pointed out by SharketMare, you’re just wrong.
It’s beer time and back to DeGlobalisation & supply chains on EV fest. Access to the leading global players across battery metals and supply chains.
Not to mention the pipeline of other gold licences in CDI that are also attracting attention. Or Dorothe who is a Gold company and country maker. Bullish
I’m intrigued how Zaranou will play out. The 47km strike length is unusual. What’s the possibility of a one big pit and then other satellite pits feeding into the synergised operation? This has run effectively elsewhere in West Africa in similar terrain.
If you get a chance, listen to the ‘Perspective on the Gold market’ panel discussion from 121 which is available on 121 mining website.
You will see how well positioned IronRidge as a junior going into a bull run Gold market with an outstanding flagship resource in Zaranou.
What do you see in Zaranou to make you think it’s not as good as they say?
I actually think they’re almost downplaying it and being cautious. But we’ll see in time.
What do you mean? ‘Like all the other assets’
The Lithium will be a commercially viable project in Ghana given the resource, grades and logistics. There will be interest in the Lithium and the Gold but if I was looking at Zaranou for a JV I’d want confirmation of numbers first. The clues are all there but until you actually get those numbers you can’t be 100% sure.
I’m going on those clues and will wait to see if I’m right.
They really need to progress Zaranou now though. That’s the money maker. We’ll know more when the drilling results are back.
GLA
I’ve been buying this morning with the drop to 7.2p.
I want them to press on with Zaranou in particular and finish drilling so they can hopefully confirm what I think all the geological indicators are showing as well as the artisanal miners.
Let’s get the lines explored and find out how big Zaranou is. Yes the artisanals have scratched the surface but imo this strike length is open and the down-dip comment shows they think there’s gold at depth. The intense quartz veins shown in the lines and the anomalies all indicate a significant gold resource imo but how big is it?
The only way we find out is to accelerate everything and that needs money.
Vince raising £4.75m in this market is incredible really. Not sure how he’s pulled that off but he has. I’m sure people with better geological understanding than me can see the upside and how it could emerge.
I’m backing my own research with more cash just above placing price. GLA
It’s frustrating when you can’t buy anything. I’ve been trying off and on for nearly three hours.
Something must be going on in the background.
IronRidge is a well known and familiar brand across West Africa now. The foundations have been laid. Relationships are strong across all West African jurisdictions that IRR operate in. Vince and Len have done a great job in building those relationships up from the village elders right up to government level and the President’s office in Ghana as well as working at high levels in Chad advising the govt there.
Remember- 3 discoveries in 3 years in 3 jurisdictions
Zaranou is being advanced quickly & the second phase drilling will be completed in 2/3 weeks and then it’s another 3/4 weeks wait for results from those samples.
I’m sure there’s lots of interested parties looking at Zaranou already but expect more attention in the run up to July. There are many indicators that make Zaranou very exciting. (A bit of research required but it’s worth it).
Ewoyaa & surrounding licences are going to surprise everyone imo. This resource is still open. The surface has only just been scratched. Bottom line, commercially viable as a Lithium project with great grades, metallurgy and ‘Simply The Best’ logistics in Africa. 115km not a 1,500km to port. The supply chain demand squeeze for high grade low impurity lithium LCE and Hydroxide is only going to intensify imo. But wtfdik (High grade, low impurity to get through the qualification process).
Then there’s Chad and Dorothe with her surrounding friends. Well I’ve spent about 5 hours looking back through the Chad RNS and the geology, plus what it actually means to be a first mover in a country with no mining heritage. I haven’t quite finished yet but it’s very interesting, intriguing and bloomin exciting stuff. Yes the risk is higher in Chad but the rewards are enormous imo.
IRR is a slow burner right now but when things hot up in June just be prepared.
We only need one of those three assets to go pop and be a company and family maker. BUT what odds that Vince and Len deliver on all three?
Zaranou
Ewoyaa
Dorothe
Just those three words.
A good RNS today and update on Zaranou. Drilling to recommence for a month before the wet season begins at the end of May.
A great move to try and get 8,000m of AC & 1,000m of RC drilling completed in a month. New drilling 2 step out 160m from previously reported drill traverses.
IronRidge’s statement about a Covid also shows their consideration for the safety of the workforce.
“After a short period of operations shut-downs, we have carefully reviewed in-country operational procedures, discussed operational impacts with key stakeholders & communities, & implemented a Covid19 management plan allowing us to safely resume work”
Len Kolff COO
Zaranou is extremely exciting imo & the IRR business model with hedged assets is coming into its own right now.
Mike.
Generally accepted battery grade is 99.5% for Lithium Carbonate and 56.5% for Lithium Hydroxide.
So IRR returning a 99.92% is above what’s expected and will mean less refining and processing. The key point is the low impurities as not everyone is able to get to that level.
IronRidge now have a commercially viable project with low Capex and Opex.
What next though? A big week in Cape Town where Len is also presenting at Indaba and I believe talking on a gold panel discussion.
Good point Farq on the Broker note from SP Angel. It came out just before the 2nd April and they were at the Shareholder meeting.
Vince talked about the company putting ‘Best foot forward’ and today we did that. This is just part of the Lithium portfolio in Ghana and Len has just referenced the ‘Lithium Pipeline’ in a tweet this morning. Perfect timing for Cape Town and Indaba20 (3rd-6th Feb). IRR were a big hit last year but the MR JORC and Zaranou Gold generating interest, I’d expect Vince, Len and the team to be very busy.
14.5Mt @ 1.31% Li2O is above expectation at the time and still leaves more to come. This is a definite project. Low Capex & Opex, outstanding logistics with power & bitumen road to Takoradi.
Commercially viable in a mining friendly jurisdiction.
Well done to all the LTH and to all at IronRidge. It might take a few days to filter through and watch out for deramping.
It’s a globally significant HR Spodumene resource.
Quoted from RNS:
In summary, delivery of the 14.5Mt at 1.31% Li2O Mineral Resource estimate is an important milestone in further de-risking a compelling project with favourable geology, mineralogy, location and exploration upside, in the pro-mining jurisdiction of Ghana; which bodes well for Studies and future mining operations with low capital intensity and low operating costs implied.”
Adding to this, Vincent Mascolo, CEO/MD IronRidge Resources said:
“Given the magnitude of the Indicated Mineral Resource, along with exceptional geology and proximity to operational infrastructure we have further enhanced our optionality in respect of start-up and production scenarios.
“We are pleased that we are in line and generally better than market assumptions in respect of tonnage, grade and recoveries.
“The Mineral Resource estimate also reaffirms our pursuit of becoming a dominant West Africa spodumene source for the emerging electric vehicle and stored energy space, and we look forward to updating the market on our progress in this regard in due course“
Buying increasing in the run up to Indaba20 in Cape Town 3rd - 6th Feb. IronRidge had a good response there last year and released the Ghana Lithium update on 31st January and the CDI, Gold update on 4th Feb.
The President of a Ghana was at the IRR booth and excitement reigned.
What of this year? Are we about to get the JORC MRE ahead of Indaba?
It seems people are buying again and we know how fast this moves.
IronRidge are attending @miningindaba and Len Kolff is presenting as well as on the panel discussing gold and what makes Junior gold projects an attractive investment in West Africa?
Things are coming together imo.
Today’s RNS was a good one imo. Well written and full of detail on the current steps being taken with regard to drilling at Zaranou as well as the next steps through to drilling results in Q1 2020.
The markets across the board are getting battered at the moment but that will turn and we know this can move quickly.
The statements from Len about the drilling, Why, where, type, extent and the rational behind it all in the RNS is looking good.
I think this is really interesting & exciting.
“The magnetic anomaly is encouraging as it shows variation in the magnetic signature of the rocks directly around where the hard-rock artisanal gold workings occur. This could be an indication of rock type variation and importantly rheological contrast providing favourable structural trap sites for gold mineralisation to occur. At this stage, it is unclear as to what is causing the magnetic feature, however it may represent an intrusive body at depth”
FAVOURABLE TRAP SITES FOR GOLD MINERALISATION TO OCCUR.
No wonder Len is saying the team has done well and they’re excited. Bring on January. I think IRR is oversold. Zaranou is shaping up very nicely and Q1 with the Zaranou Gold & Cape Coast Lithium.
Commenting on the Company’s latest progress, Len Kolff, Chief Operating Officer of IronRidge, said:
“The team has done a great job in completing drill planning, community consultation and drill access construction in time for the arrival of the Geodrill rigs, whilst continuing mapping, soil sampling and drone survey field activities.
“We are excited to get the drill programme underway, to test below the extensive hard-rock artisanal mining zones with high-grade channel sampling results, as well as discrete magnetic anomalies spatially associated with the mineralised structures targeted by the artisanals.
“It is a challenging task, as the area is vast, with over 40km strike of alluvial workings within which the artisanals have discovered and defined 16km strike of in-situ mineralised structures, of which we are testing approximately 8km strike within the most intensively pitted zone.
“We believe the wide spaced AC drill traverses across the width of the mineralised corridor, in conjunction with targeted deeper RC holes, will provide us with the best chance of testing the structures across strike and at depth at this early stage of exploration across a large area.
“We look forward to keeping the market updated on progress and anticipate receiving results during Q1 2020”
Well done IRR. The SP will come if they keep on robustly proving up technicals.
Or flying drones over the artisanal mining at Zaranou and identifying the new 2.8km anomalies.
On Friday I looked at the RNS on Côte d’Ivoire and Ghana, Gold and Lithium. Just look at detail and see the operational synergy at Zaranou.
I’ve given up saying more about Cale Coast, is there a project there? Yes.
Are the logistics exceptional, yes.
Are the metallurgical tests above 6%? Yes
Are they exceptional? Yes
Are there very low impurities? Yes
Are there lots of people actually working on the ground? Yes
Are they proving up the technicals? Yes
