I love what this company do, but that makes me very nervous!
I have to say I only stumbled across this the last few days but I'm more excited about it than anything else in my portfolio already. The scale of the problem it's helping to solve is absolutely immense. If things work out, they are likely to work out at an almost unimaginable scale. I shall be purchasing more this morning that's for sure.
Morning guys. I jumped in here this morning expecting take off with everyone's minds focussed on battery technology from yesterday's announcement. I've been here at least two hours now and nothing! I was expecting to be popping the corks and sniffling the snuff by now. What's going on?
Nothing stopping the Rhodium run, $12,400 on Kitco this morning. After what's happened with Centamin recently I'm much more mindful of the importance of diversifying my portfolio better, anyone have any recommendations for other Rhodium heavy stocks? Cheers.
It would be great of course, but as I think Warren Buffett said, and I've found to be increasingly true as my years of investing go by, the stock market is the transfer of wealth from the impatient to the patient. Of course it doesn't always work out like that, which only makes retaining the virtue more difficult, and consequently more valuable.
These failures with the platforms exactly when you need them to function is a massive problem. I'm with AJ Bell still, it's been hopeless the last two days. I'm slightly conspiratorial about it, I suspect the Hedge funds don't have these sorts of issues. The prices have been changing all day afterall so shares must have been changing hands. I spoke to HL and II who assured me they'd had no problems with their sites, but I don't believe them having read various posts on the forums. They all go on about their fee structures, but if you have more than a few tens of thousands invested the fees are dwarfed by the losses and opportunity costs when the systems go down. Does anyone know if there's a requirement to log system failure timescales? For me this would certainly be the deciding factor in which platform to use. I'm thinking of splitting my investments into two or three accounts to reduce the risk, but it's a ridiculous complication.
Very stressful, far too much staring at a screen. Managed to get out around £10 then was locked out of my AJ Bell account from about 11.50 to 3.30pm. They did place a few orders by phone but it's nothing like as convenient as on the web platform. I think I got by relatively unscathed, but would have sold a few smaller holdings had I had the opportunity and I missed some great buying opportunities. I'd thought it was just AJ Bell's system showing it's limitations, and was determined to change provider, but apparently other platforms were suffering outages too. Can anyone recommend a platform that didn't go down today?
I would happily take a bit of a temporary hit on my CEY shares for a reasonably happy end to that particular epic saga.
I'm thinking 20p by November for sure. And did I mention my uncle is a Nigerian prince who has fifteen millions of dollars he wants to bring into your beautiful country! He just needs someone with a Great British Bank Account to receive the funds and he holds those clever Englishmen that invest in good Science companies in high esteem. Please just send you account details to me at: Truly Trustworthy, Just feels right 135 666, Lagos, Nigeria. And thank you KingHas1, a most auspicious name for a man to help a Prince.
I remember writing on here to someone that had gone all in with her savings into NCYT in the Spring that they were being highly irresponsible. I stand corrected. You followed your judgement, wish I'd done the same, although I can't complain even with my relatively small holding. Well done, I hope this brings the transformation you were hoping for for your family. Now for god's sake, sell a little at least!
I agree the Covid is being overblow and there is no option but to live with it. Children have effectively no risk from Covid, how could we justify giving them a vaccine knowing the vaccine for the 2009 H1N1 flu left hundreds with narcolepsy? And this one will be even more experimental. We can't do it, if we have any morals as a society at all, in which case we can't rely on a vaccine, against which there are many other arguments, and must get back to normal life. There is no option but to live with it. Those at risk will have to be careful, and the rest of us help protect them, not hide away behind masks and at home. We all need to make this very clear to the government urgently. They are getting completely out of control.
But CEY tanking. Any ideas?
Bejesus guys, I keep thinking there's no point selling now, it can't drop much more with a relatively reliable dividend. Then it just goes south. I'm still of that mindset, but it's getting expensive.
Shaping up for the highest volume for many moons as well. Got to do some gardening while the sun's out, watching these good days can be a real waste of time. GLA.
Wow, I bought several five figure tranches this morning, now I can't even get a price for £1000. Easy to sell though. Looking extremely good in my uneducated opinion. GLA.
I've been buying YGEN, some tie up with NCYT I see and a very good pipeline of projects. Much steadier than the pure testing stocks, but that's good for the old ticker sometimes.
I hate to celebrate anything linked to that xxxx (any four letter word will do!) Han****, but I think this is the future of healthcare. I'm actually reassured by slow steady progress rather than the sudden spikes a la VAL. I'm increasing my exposure significantly. GLA
Thanks Elprof, I have a decent sized portfolio myself these days and have often been unable to buy in the bulk I've requested on AJ Bell recently. This IT problem this morning has me thinking of breaking a golden rule of mine and shorting them. It's pretty unforgivable.
My AJ Bell account has been down all morning. Considering the market turmoil right now this couldn't have been a worse time and I'm seriously considering moving platform. Just thought I'd check other platforms aren't also suffering, and see if anyone has any recommendations. I guess Hargreaves Lansdowne is the obvious choice - which sounds horribly like an advert, really it isn't.
AAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!! HEEEEELLLLLPPPPP!!!!!
Well, that's my thoughts right now anyway. Hope someone has something a little more lucid.
