I am sorry, I didn't realise that this would be so difficult.
1. Most existing sand used for fracking comes from Wisconsin (not all but most). The at mine cost is way less than then the delivered cost in the Uintah basin.
2. Mt Vernal is in the Unintah basin, therefore the delivery and handing costs will be less than sand coming from Wisconsin.
3. Production in Utah is restricted by a lack of water in Utah.
4. PQE uses a closed loop system for water.
5. Utah is currently going through a drought and talking about imposing water use restrictions. The choice will be homes or sand production: hmm, let me think about that one.
6. Even if there is sufficient sand in Utah to supply the fracking market, they can't do it because of the water use restrictions which prevent them expanding output.
7. Water is likely to get more expensive in Utah.
8. We will know shortly but they should get around $80 per ton for the fracking sand. Don't shoot me if it turns out the be $75.
