On the debate about the correct spelling of "Defence" - in the initial formation of the company, they chose the English spelling of defence to distinguish the company from the US spelling of "defense". The reason for this was to stress the "sovereign" nature of the company and it's independence from similar US companies. Spelling can have considerable meaning. The relevance of the spelling chosen for Concorde was significant - with the e - not without as in English. The French go their way on that one.

Try any of the banks. Interactive Invester is also not offering Defence Holdings. There is no problem with Barclays or any of the main banks.

Any bank will sell Alert. Ii and a few other brokers aren't.

Same here - never had a problem with Barclaysvand their help desk is prompt and accurate.

Interactive Invester, AJ Bell and a few others aren't offerind a lot of smaller shares as a buy because it costs them a bit more. All the banks are fine, Hargreaves Lansdown is fine. It's the smaller brokers that you have to take it up with. See Charles Archers article about it
