Oldie, Not really sure that just because one of your drinking pals isn't white make your opinion more fact based than my experiential take on what i feel we have become is of any value.
Not really sure why I feel the need to lay down my credentials at the age of sixty, not sure that any of us should have to oldie. But briefly, cos I could go on for pages. My wife is half Pakistani, my next door neighbour is jamaican and my grandsons best mate is buddy, a wee boy a play football with , lives five doors away who came with his man and dad from Aleppo 4 years back. My best friends are gay, one of them an Indian who was my boss and mentor for 7 years.
I served on three extremely inclusive urban regeneration boards in the 90s and early new century and was chairman of one of then for two years. I listen daily to old white men (allotment holders) of all social status, from judges to ex convicts whinging about foreigners from warmer climates stealing our jobs and welfare benefits. Moaning about the Muslim faith destroying our culture (whatever that is) but never crossing a church door but for civic occasions. Screaming about shira law being forced on us without one iota of evidence yet demanding asian grooming gangs members be castrated, executed and then sent back to where they came from for a fair trial....
My wife works in a market stall and listens to the same posion from white men and women all day long ..
I spend many of my evenings with mentally Ill addicts and alcoholics in recovery and in soup kitchens .. it's a dark place many of our communities end up in. I do this work not for anything but self preservation..
I believe there has been a shift in the moral fabric of our society over the last 40 years that has not been to the mutual benefit of us in fair way. If your can be true to yourself and close your eyes with your tounge out then you will taste it.. I can.
There are no lies in anything I've said, just pure unstatistical recollections and reflection.

Vile, backwards thinking and behaving country this has become in my lifetime.. I stand by my words.

An etonian prime minister with the combined ethics of a sewer rat and new Orleans slaver elected on a huge majority.!!
