Not sure I would agree with that? Earnings, profitability and total asset value of the company are some of the metrics that the market/investors consider to decide what price they are prepared to pay for each share. And as you say, Market Cap is a function of current share price x number of shares so would it be fair to say that Market Cap is reflective of earnings, profitability and asset value?
