Doesn't matter what the personal vote would be as Institutional Investors own circa 80% of Lloyds shares and their preference is for buybacks as the vehicle to return excess cash after the normal dividend is paid. My preference would be a limited buyback to cover shares issued for staff awards/bonuses and the rest returned as a special dividend.

Add a forecast £1.8bn dividend to a proposed £2bn share buyback and Lloyds Banking Group is, in effect, offering its shareholders an 11pc cash yield on its £34bn market capitalisation. That beats inflation, let alone government bonds, so patient investors are being paid to just sit and wait out any economic – or political – squalls.

Oh really.......last year the closing SP the day before going ex dividend (6th April) was 45.19p, falling to 44.04p when market opened on ex dividend day (7th April). Think you are the one talking horse sh it.

Wonder if the SP fall from todays highs anything to do with todays RNS detailing the large Director share sells just after Final Results? David Oldfield sold 2,951,496 shares in 3 tranches on 23rd February, and Stephen Shelley sold 2,742,610 shares in 2 tranches on 23rd February.

It's not rocket science, the consumer will shop where it is cheapest........even more so now with cost's going up. Far more people would be struggling now with the cost of living crisis if there were no Supermarkets. Simples.

Who was greedy, the Supermarkets or the farmers..........Supermarkets were keeping the costs down for consumers.

As far as I am aware, the dividend policy pre covid was not a progressive dividend policy. The dividend policy pre covid was one that António Horta-Osório introduced which was dividend payout would be 70% of EPS. I believe at the time his bonus was linked to getting the SP above a certain level, that is why the dividend was so high in comparison to todays dividend level.
