Ethernity Networks Ltd* (ENET.L, 0.02p/£1.1m) Update: 1m unit shipment milestone with a leading customer (17.07.25) • Ethernity shipped 1m units, of its Carrier Ethernet Switch and Traffic Manager engine IP (Carrier Ethernet Engine) cumulatively, to a single customer. The milestone, achieved over several years of engagement with the longstanding customer, was under a royalty model. 

 The Carrier Ethernet Engine was initially delivered on a Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) and subsequently ported on to a custom Application Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC). Ethernity’s IP has now been embedded across the customers’ Ethernet product portfolio and serves, as the main engine in its custom ASIC. Verdict: True.

👍 Truth: Remember, the openness of FTTH networks and multi-vendor interoperability of PON equipment are essential enablers of replaceability within multi-vendor supply strategies that FTTH operators implement in order to avoid vendor lock-in pitfalls and prolonged lead times.

Focusing on interoperable PON equipment and standards-based protocols creates leverage in vendor negotiations, reduces long-term dependency and keeps FTTH operators in control, today and in the future.

In addition, remember that national regulation – Germany being an example – sometimes requires OLT interoperability with ONTs (and CPE in general) that end users buy in retail. Like it or not, this implies a clear requirement on OLT-ONT interoperability.
