Nobody has ever voted for a Prime Minister at any General Election, we vote for a political party who in turn had voted for their leader.

Few people vote for a party with a bad leader as they are the figurehead, but the general public DO NOT vote for the leader of a party. Each political party chooses their leader, the general public has absolutely nothing to do with it. There has never been an election to just pick a party leader, only to vote for the person who happens to be the leader, which is why they almost always choose to stand in a safe seat so they get elected.

The general public never votes for the leader. Each political party elects a leader from its members. In a general election the general public vote for the political party based on its manifesto.

Jefff, you really don't have a grasp of anything do you. The rules of the party were if you had 100 MP votes and nobody else did you automatically become PM. As everybody else dropped out of the race and the only candidate was Sunuk, who do you think the party's members could vote for, I'll give you a hint, the people on the ballot paper, in this case Sunak. Those are the rules of the party.

When you toddle off to the ballot box do you vote for people not on the ballot paper ? I hope not. So what is the point of a ballot if only one person is standing ?

In case you missed it we have never voted for a leader, the party's MP's have and in the case of more than one candidate meeting the required criteria the members vote. If you don't like the rules, become an MP then PM then change the rules.

If you understood the rules you would know that the first step is to gather 100 votes from current party MP's. If only one person gathers 100 votes then he is elected to PM. If more than 1 person gathers 100 votes then the members of the party vote for the PM. Sunuk was the only one to get 100 MP votes so by the rules of the party he became PM. Nobody was banned from voting, they just followed the existing rules. It really is very simple.

It says GOV on the UK Gov website because it is run by the current government, it would be stupid to have to change the heading and every single document within the website if the used the party in power, be it Tory or Labour.

Well considering he was elected as an MP by the general voting public, then as always has been the case he was elected by party members to become PM, the same as every PM. Therefore by definition he is elected. We, the general public do not elect a PM so we cannot say he is "unelected".

Not a surprise really, date for stopping selling petrol cars was pushed back 5 years therefore more time to buy electric so demand would drop. Government wants car makers to make 22 % of car sales EV's. Now assuming the number of people wanting an EV remains fairly constant, as they have 5 extra years in which to buy a petrol car demand per year would fall. requirement to sell 22% EV's remains so as demand falls the logical course of action would be to discount new EV's to encourage sales. Discounted new vehicle prices results in lower resale value. The amount a vehicle drops depends on the purchase price and the demand for the vehicle.

Nothing to do with the EV bubble supposedly bursting and everything to do with the government moving the goal posts and market forces adjusting accordingly.

Personally I have EV's and absolutely detest Tesla drivers.
