Torquay, Condolences to your cailin and yourself. It's never easy. Glad you met lots of decent people afterwards. I must say though that you may be viewing the past with Rose coloured glasses. The years you refer to were in general very grim for Irish people in the UK. Your own situation may have been fine but for the vast majority of Irish it was dreadful. Forced to emigrate and toil in menial jobs in terrible conditions. That was the reality. Today's emigrants are there mostly by choice earning good money a lot further up the food chain than their predecessors. So don't shed too many crocodile tears for them. Also spare us the ****** innuendo wrt restaurants and living conditions, you're better than that I hope.
