I'm with Mitch on this. I regularly buy M&S for mens clothing and have had to send back a number of items this year (jeans in particular)- something i never had to do; also my wife is also returning a faulty body warmer at the moment; the quality has definitely slipped. i still shop and get most of my clothes there, its just that now i make sure i keep my receipts safe! I cant comment on Primark - never been there.

Anyone who buys on the dips must have an awful lot of shares by now!

Just an observation, but if the stated policy is to reduce the amount of discounted sales then it follows that the volume of trade will go down, but the higher price level will offset this; which is why the profit forecast remains the same; so its not really a disaster

Investic downgraded from hold to sell - new price of 290 from 315; i think that explains it

but what prompted the sell-off? concerns over poor black Friday maybe? M&S is surely not a share for the fainthearted

That was strange - at 8.02am it was down 8p to 3.21 and now its back up - any ideas? Whats going on.

That's what we want to hear! Next target is to reach 350 and hold and then we might breathe easier. My plan has involved some buying on the dips and selling on the highs , but it has been hard work to make any kind of profit.

These shares are like a b*** yo-yo. I'm heartily sick of them. I suppose we have to wait for the results before we get any direction, but this is painful

I note the pound has dropped 2% and also next and debs have also dropped over 2% - there appears to be a clear link that worries over a falling pound imply possible recession which will hurt domestic demand

New member - hello! Puzzling as to the poor performance of the shares recently , I wondered if it is mostly due to the fall in the pound, meaning that all imports are more expensive and likely to reduce profits as a result. We may need to wait for this to change, before we see much of an upswing. if this is true, it would also seem foolish to reduce foreign exposure , as they should boost profits. Just a thought.
