Personally I find the online free click and collect very good and fast delivery, for clothes, with collection at a nearby motorway services. i cant say how the web site compares with comparable sites. Also a shout out for M&S thick white bread @ 65p! Top notch.

I notice Next are also down today, but only 0.19%, not 2.3%. Is it just covid / lockdown fears? or is there something else

Amigo. Agreed, hindsight is a wonderful thing. We would all be millionaires if we knew when to buy and sell, but its not so easy. Suppose it dropped and didn't go back up. That's what makes it all so fascinating / nerve wracking

Why is ftse 250 going up, while mks goes down? I can understand that rising covid, brexit uncertainty and cancelling christmas would put the skids under mks, but why is the general market trend still up

All i note is that on Friday, it tracked the ftse 250 very closely, so that might give us a clue

It seems the death of the High Street has been exaggerated, judging by Bury town centre; a typical northern large town. Car park full, high street packed and mks very busy in all depts. This return to normalcy should soon be reflected in the sp imo.

I accept your comments re pre covid closure policy and valid criticism of management. Looking forward the known unknowns are the effect of reduced competition on the high street, likely to increase, and the potential relief rally of a return to physical shopping having experienced the present reality. I'm not trying to get the last word in or prolong this thread and I appreciate your comments thus far

The lack of demand is caused by the virus and is temporary, it is not clear that this will become permanent. Many people look forward to a return to normality including physical shopping and socialising which play to m&s strengths. The online presence continues to improve, so I think they are well placed and covering all bases. I'm clear that I want to be holding max. Shares on the day the vaccine is announced, it might tread water till then

The answer is to improve the clothing range, not shut the stores, and so appeal to all customers

I think it would be a mistake to make a panic decision and close stores while the pandemic is still about. People are social animals, many are fed u of zoom and teams, and I feel will flock back to the high street once the vaccine is available., for social reasons if nothing else. Conventional wisdom is often wrong

I suspect the lacklustre non-performance atm is probably partly due to the lack of footfall in the high street ; still down 50% year on year last week. I dont think the weather helped! but it seemed much busier yesterday, almost back to normal so that might be a positive sign

SP needs to get back to 113 till i turn a profit and that seems like a mountain away. The old adage of not trying to catch a falling knife seems appropriate , so i'm more likely to be selling than buying atm and hoping to buy back in at the bottom

The sp is shadowing the market , so the big question is which way is the market headed now. Its been a steady fall for the past month and bad news keeps coming, so i dont see much upswing till we hear good news about the vaccine

Phew! I'm just grateful for one good day - I've had enough of the other sort. i wont lie - I was nervous switching on this morning. I'm back in 90% and keeping a little back in case it dives. i dont trust these shares but pride wont let me bail out

like everyone else i have no idea what will happen to the sp tomorrow, I've lost enough money on these shares and am not about to increase my stake, so i have sold some in case it drops and i can buy back at a lower price, as long term i am still optimistic. If it goes up, I'm happy . Win , win.

Can anyone tell me when we will hear of the next trading update. I'm tempted to reduce my holding till i have a better idea of how things stand, although still hopeful for the future
