Siemens Energy to get government guarantees. So that removes any risk, if there was any, to future Mistral collaboration.
I recall in a recent interview with Matt Harper than one of problems with the UK BESS market was that the contract specifications didn’t play to the strengths of VFRB e.g. max durations matched the limits of a lithium battery not the full capabilities of VFRB.
Electricity prices are often set based on the 'marginal source' – the most expensive one that has to come online to meet demand. This paper found that in 2021, gas set the price for UK electricity 98% of the time (bottom-right corner).

Sometimes you have to read further than the headline!!
“We realise this comes across as paradoxical,” said Guido Steffen, a spokesperson for RWE. “But that is as matters stand.” Rebuilding the turbines to make way for the expanding mine was part of the original agreement that allowed the windfarm to be constructed in 2001, he added, and not a result of a recent change of German energy policy.

In countries including Spain and Poland, solar power has at times been cut off to avoid overwhelming power grids or because it is cheaper to cut off solar power than switch off fossil fuel power plants.
“There are hot-spots of grid congestion and renewables curtailment,” Ember analyst Chris Rosslowe said.
“One really quick thing that could be done is accelerating the deployment of storage on the grid. Battery storage projects can be constructed very quickly,” he said.
