Klitscho's comments
Vitali Klitschko, the mayor of Kyiv, Ukraine's capital, told the BBC in an interview published on Friday that Ukraine might have to make territorial concessions as part of a peace agreement with Russia."Right now, there are many conversations about a possible solution. One scenario is to give up territory. It's not fair, but for peace, maybe it can be a solution. Temporary," he stated in the interview excerpt. Klitschko emphasized his responsibility for Kiev, calling it "the heart" of Ukraine, and noted that President Volodymyr Zelensky might have to make a "painful solution" for peace. His comments come a day after a Russian attack on the capital, which reignited international concerns and doubts about Moscow's willingness to negotiate a lasting settlement. In response, US President Donald Trump urged Russian President Vladimir Putin to halt the attacks, while also acknowledging that Ukraine's efforts to reclaim Crimea would be challenging.
